GOOD NEWS only thread...take a deep breath there is lots of hope

  • DE Brown is the only left to sign and is in 10 min maybe (12 pm EST)

    UT landed everyone experts that actually cover UT thought they really would with confidence (incl Bell....Ryan had serious doubts for him coming to UT)

    Replacing Bell is 2 already enrolled EE safeties in FS L. Johnson and SS J. Reeves Maybin + FS B Randolph and SS McNeil that has played a ton (not to mention B. Moore)....all should improve with a simpler 4-3 and another year of training and practice.

    DONT sleep on getting safety Todd Kelly Jr in the 2014 class too. 1 of the Berry twins is also a SS to start out.

    We are deeper at safety in 2013 than we have been in 5+ years by far and will get 1 of the top safeties in America in TKjr in 12 months.

  • We needed him badly at corner for this year. We signed a good offensive class imo. 2014 class has to be huge.

    Completely agree with the safety issue. Bell would have been nice but it didnt fill an area of need...like DL OL or RB might have. We also may have gotten a couple of steals with Dobbs and Jabo Lee.

    I am telling you he would not have started over McNeil and Brian Randolph at least early in the year.....no doubt he would have played a lot but dont sleep on L Johnson and esp JRM. Bell was a nickel/ SS in the box guy many think.....while a big miss we are ok. Bell was not a CB.

    I would only say desperate needs were CB, DE, DT, WR, OL and TE in this 2013 class.....mainly because of what the 2014 roster will look like in a year and its needs......BUT we needed CBs (esp an EE juco), WRs and a juco TE in this class for the 2013 roster and maybe 2 deep . We filled all those 2013 needs incl the 2 jucos.

    2014 class needs: 2 top RBs, DEs, DTs, LBs, and OTs by far

  • We would all be thrilled with this class if only Bell had signed. HE'S ONLY ONE PLAYER.
    For 2014, the legacies and strong TN talent that are already interested in UT will give us a lot of momentum, and this will counteract the negativity that comes from losing Bell.
    Just like losing Hunter and Patterson helped us pick up North, we should be able to get a player in the 2014 class that might have chosen to go elsewhere if both Bell and McNeil were here.

    I'm much more nervous about finding out next season it Jones can coach these players into some wins.

  • We beat a lot of teams out for recruits this year like Ohio St, Bama, Ole Miss, Nebraska, Vandy, Ark , USCe, UNC, NC St, Clemson, FL St, AU, UGA, Mich, Oregon, Va Tech, LSU, Miss St, Ok St, UCLA and more

    Really the next step is winning 2+ more games a year asap so we can land the 3-6 key elite recruits a year that we have missed on in the last 6 classes since the 2007 class.

  • A top 25 recruiting class after a dismal season and a total coaching staff turnover in November? That's pretty damn impressive. Think of what Butch Jones and co. can accomplish actually having some lead time...

    Its not what some dreamed of but its still ok when all is considered.

    2014 has a chance to be a big class and we might need the extra #s to backcount.

    Never know....we might get a key player or 2 or a top transfer like we did with Bullard and Malik Jackson in recent history. We might get a DLineman or Olineman after NSD too since we have 4 OVs left to spare and open spots.

    Yep.........we are at 21 and we will just have to see if anything develops after NSD with those that didnt sign today.

    2014 JR days are upon us and we already have hosted some.....we also have a heck of a commit in Wharton that loves to recruit too. GBO!

  • When you really look at the classes among all the sites + who they got in filling needs and their really good players in the classes.....ONLY FL and UGA out recruited us in the SEC east and thats where it still counts. We are at least as good as USCe's class and UTs IS better than Vandys in a few ways and all but 1 site agrees.

    I cant stess this enough. We filled our immediate needs IMO for the 2013 roster when it comes to the 2 deep.

  • EVERYONE has signed that was potentially to UT.........we are done for the day. 21 incl the EEs. We only missed out on Bell really for those that people thought we had a real chance at today.

    1 note: EJ Levenberry has not signed but is suppose to later today to FSU (maybe in an hour or so) but I cant see anything changing.
