IMO, he did not choose us, we have who we have for next year, let's buckle the chinstraps and play ball!
If we reach potential and win some ball games, this nonsense will work its way out.
If we don't, Wes, Ryan and the boys will be covering another search.
I really think we surprise some people with a dynamic, energetic team that wins some ballgames!
Three months and 15 days till kickoff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I read the title of the post I was looking for something different...didnt see in the article where he wanted to go to UT just that he liked them and then backed off after the coaching change...did i misread something... The title was a little misleading...

Well he said he played Rocky Top on youtube all the time during his junor year and he said that he wanted to go to Tennessee but we dropped the ball. I remember early on thinking we really had a shot at this guy and was excited. I was disappointed that we didn't get him. Now I know why.

Fair enough on the playing of Rocky Top but no where in that article did he say he wanted to go to UT..he did, however, in the article say he really liked UT. This board has posts and articles galore about kids that really like UT and what it has to offer but may not want to go there for one reason or another. I believe it is your interpretation that he wanted to go to UT more than him saying because it wasnt in this article.. I enjoyed the article, nonetheless, and feel that was the past we got some good players and have to look forward to getting some more in the future.

Some have said when Thompson went to Bama that Geno Smith was no longer a Vol and then add in CTJ leaving......hard to overcome both. This is not UTs fault IMO unless you solely think about the coaching changes. IF Geno wanted to really come to UT and it was more about the program and univ for him then he still could have come or at least had us in it late which we were not.
JMO Lance didn't do a great job here in the end and IMO that is why Geno lost interest in UT....then add into it that I am sure there were a few more factors in Geno's decision that he is not saying that had nothing to do with UT. I doubt UT was in his top 2-3 even prior to CLT and CTJ leaving.

Exactly. There is more to this and maybe somebody did drop the ball like CLT which some assume but I for one never heard we were even in his top 5 come his SR year.
