  • I've posted on here once before and I'll reiterate I'm not connected to UT but my wife Janet was a cheer teammate with Cindy at UT. She spoke earlier tonight with Cindy and said she was excited about the possibility of moving back close to home. Something to the effect Jon's itching to get back into coaching and she would love to return to roots. Evidently the $ is still an issue, Jon agreed to come down substantially (no specifics) on his salary requirements but that the assistant coaching coffer was still more than UT wants to commit to. She also said the talks about assistant staff selection had been worked out (no specifics there either)...the remaining issue is working the numbers. Jan said Cindy was "over the moon" the entire conversation about coming home. I hope it works out for UT and Cindy too :) Good Luck Vol Fans!

    Possible posts from the future:

    A) I still can't believe that Biljones223 guy was right all along
    B) I can't believe that BiljonesTroll kept the Gruden-Bigfoot train going on multiple stops
    C) Who is Biljones? I thought you meant Bill Dance
    D) I can't believe we hired another coach with a losing record.
    E) I really think Coach Cut can get us back.

Thanks for posting your insider info Mr Dance, but will wait for the fat lady to sing. Albeit interesting to hear your wife talk...

  • Hope there is truth behind this. It would not surprise me at all. When you watch Grudens QB camp you can tell he really likes working with young kids. He is interested in coaching again. The wife can have a lot of say so in your decisions.

  • Biljones, I'm not going to upvote your post at this time. Call me skeptical. But I promise if this pans out and happens I will upvote EVERY post you submit from that point forward.

Kevin or Ryan - can we create a GIF of a man with his hair on fire, waving his arms and jumping off a cliff? I could use that.

  • The one thing I will say about the OPs post is that the various rumors all seem to be hitting on a couple of common threads (negotiating on the numbers, especially as it pertains to assistant coaches; Gruden's wife and her ties to Tennessee, etc). What isn't known is whether these are actually separate rumors or a case of people putting their own spin on existing rumors...

    Well, there's one more:

Biljones223 is one lucky schmuck to be married to a former UT cheerleader, whether Gruden comes or not! lol

I don't know about all these rumors. I think a lot of this is fueled by folks who lack patience. I hadn't really been sold on Gruden, because I'm not sure he has the demeanor to be a college head coach at this point in his career. However, I am starting to come around. If he keeps Pittman and Graham, brings back Tee Martin, and brings in Morris as the DC, this team will be well coached and will be able to recruit with anybody in the SEC.
