The best thing I took from this, other than everyone outside of East Tennessee thinks this is a knock out hire, is that people believe if he succeeds, he will be here for a long time to come.
If Butch wins, I'll be thrilled to call him my coach until the day he retires.

WOW GREAT POST! Thanks for sharing this....excellent read.
what a great point about opening doors in Ohio for us. everyone is talking about him fitting in (recruiting) in the south. No one has commented on his opening up Ohio to UT. there is great talent in Ohio! why not find some of that southern Ohio talent that might be interested in the SEC as a different option vs. Big 10 (southern Ohio is cloer to Tenn than people realize both in culture and distance from home).

to be honest he didn't get on the field that much. however, if i remember correctly he had significant injuries throughout his career and got some PT at the end of his career and was a great locker room guy. I am sure someon else can confirm/clarify me. I have lived in Ohio twice and i know there is excellent football players up there. To me, Ohio is kinda like Georgia is to the south in feeding both in state and surrounding states great players. (UGA and SEC vs. OSU and Big 10). and I learned how southern Ohio is so close to Tenn/Ky in culture as well as, proximity/distance.
