I posted on the back end of the VIP thread and just wanted to say Thanks to everyone on here that brings their knowledge and opinions to share. It's great to be able to go to one place to get perspectives on UT football from teenagers to old farts (like me) and everyone in between.
As a parent of a 2013 signee (Dylan Wiesman), I started lurking around on here awhile back to try to get a handle on college football and the culture at UT. We are extremely lucky, proud and thankful that our son gets to be a Vol.
I'm not much of an internet poster so I haven't gotten in on many discussions. Also, it's a little awkward because I don't want to over step any bounds, come off as a know-it-all, or offend anybody in any way. But the more I follow you all, the harder it's getting to not jump in sometimes.
Like the post about how do the players afford stuff like suits or whatever, I've heard that the NCAA allows a stipend of sorts, supposedly around $5000 per year over and above tuition and room and board for stuff like that. I'm not sure though and will be checking into it. Theres been many other times I wanted to chime in but I just wasn't sure if it was the right thing to do. I would love to contribute whatever I can to you guys to try and give something back but sometimes it just doesn't feel right. I hope you understand.
And Mods, you guys are doing a bang up job of staying on top of this site. I lurk around a couple other 247 boards because I have friends whose kids are playing for two other schools (not SEC thankfully) and I prowl around a few others just for fun and nowhere do I find the comraderie, civility and quality of content that you all provide. As I'm in the landscape/lawncare industry, my cash flow picks up in the spring and then I will upgrade my subscription to yearly. It will be well worth it.
Thanks again.
