I think we should offer Gruden $6MM, and camp on his front yard. Take the wife's parents with on the trip, I'm sure they want to spend the next 4 years (minimum) close to their daughter. Make him the highest paid coach in CFB, secure your recruiting class, and move forward. The difference between $5MM and $6MM is $1.50 per home game ticket.
I'm not sure how you solve the Cheek thing, but it appears to me there is enough light on it now, that the truth will come out. Control doesn't change overnight in a state school.....have to let it play out over time.
