  • Zero percent chance we hire Chucky so the cost will be zero dollars. We lost 4 million last year, the buyout is over nine million dollars. Dooley has 2, two, dos years of his own recruits. Hart will give him another year. And btw, if you think there are a lot of UT alums sitting around waiting to write a fat check to get rid of Dooley, I'd like to talk to you about the email I recieved from Nigeria offering to split millions of dollars. Perhaps you would donate your earnings to the athletic department.

there are so many ranking systems bud to just go by one is agenda driven and biased. Which further proves that anything a rational fan would say would not register to you. i have agreed with some things you have stated on this thread and this board many times, but i couldnt disagree with you more here. I dont understand why people on here continue to bash others for not jumping off the Dooley wagon with half the season still left to play. NOBODY is happy with our record or the way things appear RIGHT NOW. To the point about being 26th and 10th in the SEC doesn't that just further prove how great this conference is and that being successful in it is even tougher. Lastly, to bash teenagers just isnt very cool and i cant imagine that if one of our recruits was your kid and someone was talking about how bad our recruits were that you are that youvols would be ok with that, so please keep that garbage off here.

It doesn't matter what recruiting poll you look at dooley isn't cutting it. Saban layed down the law his first year but he also followed that up with the #1 class his first year. Dooley has give us NO REASON to think we are getting better anyone that think otherwise is just wanting to argue. I wish he could have turned the corner but he never will promise ya that.

  • I don't think Gruden would be a good hire.1. He has never recruited high school players. 2.He has never been a head coach in the college game. 3. He has a cush job and I'm not sure of his hunger factor. 4. He has a .500 winning pecentage as a head coach. 5. A big name is all he has and that will not suffice for the extreme hard work it takes to be a college head coach. 6. We have a coach and a team that needs their fans behind them. Gooooo Vols.

You make a fee good arguments and I'm with you on the fans needing to support their team. But Gruden has recruited before. Was a positions coach for a number of years before going to the NFL. So he has recruited, it's just been a long time since he has. But I definitely see your point. The recruiting landscape is vastly different since his college days.

1 he has recruited, and to Tennessee for that fact
2 he won't have to be the greatest coach in college because if he comes our roster would be much more stacked next year
3 he wants to get back into coaching...easy to see on MNF
4 .500 in the NFL is dang good, tuck rule kept him from one Super Bowl, Won another, say all you want...very few SB winning coaches still in the game
5 ever heard of his work ethic??? The guy is up early, pretty regularly I'm sure, breaking down film working for ESPN
6 we have fans that need a coach behind them

Dooley needs $600,000 for his buyout this year, even if we paid Gruden 8 million the first year we make more money as an AD (seats, concessions, merchandise, everyday donors who are encouraged with the effort UT is showing) when UT is bad it cost Haslem money...just like now, if you get someone like Gruden you all of a sudden don't have to pay huge buyouts or see Neyland empty and little excitement. Think of all the money Bama is making of its band wagon right now...Saban has been well worth his price w/o a NC

Don't know where you got that figure. Dooley's buyout this year is $5 million. It's $4 million next year. Are you talking the prorated amount of money that actually must be paid this year?

  • I've been hearing that I'm gonna get the job, but I honestly have not been contacted by U.T. concerning the matter.

  • Somewhere around $6 million for 5 years...but in the NFL not at UT. There are a lot of folks setting themselves up for a big disappointment. A lot of pro teams are falling short of expectations this year. There are going to be several openings.
