Kudos to Evan for getting someone this close to the parties involved to speak on record. Excellent reporting.

My biggest takeaway from the last few days:

No matter who reports it, from what news outlet, and what their reputation is, I will no longer believe ANY report on this coaching search that is citing their information from "sources" or "people we've talked to". That's not to say I don't trust the people reporting it, because I think 247, GVX, TFP, etc. are reporting what they have been told and they are working their off to get us information. But with all the conflicting reports from unnamed sources, I can't bring myself to believe any of the people telling them these things anymore if they're not on record. That's probably an extreme reaction, but this has become a circus. Wake me when they announce the new coach.

+1. Great article. Unfortunately I'm not surprised, Grudens the type of guy who loved attention and will just let his name be connected to a job for the simple fact that people will talk about him. I'm kinda pissed I had all those sleepless nights keeping track of it though.

Man! What a huge smokescreen!

The whole Gruden thing is as dead as a doorknob now, but I wonder if we'll ever the get the truth about the whole thing. I'm not really buying the Agent saying he had never even spoken to anyone from UT until this morning, and that was with Hart to "clear the air" about the whole thing.

“I don’t know Dave Hart,” LaMonte said. “I’d never met him or talked to him. (Today) was the only time I talked to anyone from Tennessee.”

If that's true... Dave Hart really dropped the ball on actually "trying" to get Gruden, really never wanted him in the first place or everyone involved is very, very full of it regarding what actually took place. I believe it's probably a mix of all of the above.

I'll support the "team" no matter who we hire, just hope others do the same.
