  • I almost choked....

I said the other day that we'd find the money, but we may be in for the long-haul to see if this will turn around. Gonna be a long spring/summer!

Just gotta go to Columbia and WIN! It's not that hard... biggrin

    I know, I know....,
Keep calm and sing Rocky Top!

  • A few things...

There will be at least 2 coaches IMO who will probably be retained so that # will shrink. Sunseri and Dooley have the longest time to have there's paid off, that is no problem at all. I think these #'s are fairly irrelevant, the more important # is how much the new coach and staff would be worth.

  • While those numbers are big they won't limit Hart. There is zero chance Dave Hart took this job without assurances that he would have the financial flexibility to change coaches if he feels that is the best course of action. I would not be surprised to see almost the entire defensive staff stay if Dooley is let go. I have heard that Hart was very involved in the move to the 3-4 and the hiring of Sunseri. Which if he was to hire Kirby Smart it would make a lot sense since his defense would already be in place.

Hahaha. A year ago I posted something along those lines and was blasted for it... Funny how times change.

Sunseri wasn't here a year ago, nor was the 3-4. What did you get blasted for?

  • UF is very well run. The hired what looks like the best coach of the bunch and have the most flexibility to fire.

If we hire a new coach there is A really low likelihood that he will retain even 1-2 staff members and you can bet your bottom dollar one of those retained will not be the defensive coordinator giving up 2,000 points a game. Don't look for cost savings in coach retention. Also, I love how everyone is talking about this as if it's a forgone conclusion we have a coaching vacancy. This fan base has seriously lost its mind

Surely he retains graham pittman and Palmero maybe even Hinshaw since he is such a great recruiter. Now u save some cash and have a nice start to ur staff.

  • any chance Dooley has violated terms of his contract and therefore won't be owed all that money?

I am going to assume this was sarcasm.

You are correct sir..The big money power players\boosters have let it be known they are furious at the embarrassing state of UT football and it's 99% sure Dooley is gone as soon as a new coach is locked in..Reports are flying that Gruden will be offered a contract in the Saban money ball park and a 2 hour one on one sit down with Gruden has already taken place..

  • It is not a problem with coming up with the money, I can assue you. It takes a careful assesment of the circumstances as they relate to future revenue projections. If Dooley clearly losses the fanbase to the point of reduced ticket renewals, then a loss of 10% in season ticket sales would result in a $5 million loss on ticket sales as well as the yearly donation for ticket options, which starts at $250 per person. That is another $2.5 million per year mininum
Add to that, loss of concessions and Tennessee apparal. The potential loss would far outway the cost of the buyout. It really comes down to Harts gut belief in Dooley and whether he believes Dooley can restore our winning tradition before all that happens.

why would you assume that, are you going to try and tell me that these coaches shouldn't be retained. on what basis? Our running game has improved night and day from last year, our offensive line might be one of the best in the country, and our front four are pretty darn good. With Hinshaw look at all the recruits he has ties too. so please tell me why you wouldnt keep these guys.
