Hey Dooley supporters

You get slammed in the national media if you fire a coach after a win, even a truly ugly win.

Nothing has changed. The AD makes a decision at year's end. If Dooley survives, he fires Sal and hires somebody who can coach defense.

That's true, it would be much, much worse than the press TN gets now.

And no. Nobody in the national press would trash TN for firing a coach that has Dooley's SEC record.

I responded to a poster who asked if you fire him on Monday. That's after a win on Saturday. And yes, you would get nuked in the national media for that.

we get slammed in the national media at nearly every mention. I have heard us referred to as irrelevant, as "the dregs of the SEC", as part of the SEC's "soft underbelly" and worse on a daily basis. We will get slammed in the media (assuming anyone in the national media even talks about us) for giving up flag football stats against Troy. Getting bashed for firing a completely inept coach isn't going to hurt the program any worse than keeping said coach.

Plus, everybody in the national media already thinks Dooley is getting fired anyway. They aren't going to get their panties in a bunch over the timing.

  • Even if he is an inept coach, how does it help the program at all?

It gets rid of the inept coach and gives us more time to get a different coach in place in time to try and salvage next year's recruiting class. There are going to be several openings in the SEC this yr; Ky, Arky, Auburn and probably TN.

Why do you have to be such a horse's rear? Your act is really wearing thin.

What do you mean by my act? Are you referring to my asking if people's opinions have changed? Or do you you just disagree with me?

Awesome....I would love to see some facts supporting Dooley.

I support the University of Tennessee football team. Players and coaches. Could they all be doing a better job? Yes. But all the negative talk btw us fans doesn't help any. Jmo.

And neither does taunting people who disagree with you, especially one minute or so after the final play of a tough game.

    +1 for jake, BTW.

I still support Dooley, and will remain a Dooley supporter UNTIL he loses another game this year. If he loses I think he is gone and probably should be if he wins out he stays and should. I think something has to be done with the defense whatever it is just do something.

I don't see why one more loss would be the determining factor. Taking the win and loss record out of it. why has his clock management not improved? Why did most of his staff bail on him? Why does it seem like the players don't really care for him? Why hasn't our fundamentals improved? Wes can correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure most players on the team would not run through a brick wall for him. Pretty sure i heard him say something to that effect on the Bill King show. There is more to it then W's and L's. someone just point out something he has shown as a head coach that proves he's got what it takes.

I agree. Whoever was taunting is a real ass.
Obviously you're not referring to this thread because I started it from my seat, while I was supporting my team, during the game.

Reread the posts from Volballer and Jersey Vol. I wasn't the only person ticked off by your sad little routine. You support the team all right.

I have nothing else to say to you. You are hereby permanently ignored.

I'm going to assume the continual down votes are a way of saying that someone disagrees with me but can't really formulate an argument as to why.

Then just quietly ignore him and move along. No need to call attention to it.

  • I still support Dooley but i think he has surrounded himself by too many unproven coaches on defense and putting in a new system on top of it is killing us. It doesnt matter what defense we run if the guy calling plays doesnt know what he is doing and its obvious by now Sal has no clue how to call a game. Wins and loses arent just wins and loses imo. I still think Dooley needs one more year as of today now next saturday may be different but ill be there cheering loud as hell no matter what.

Can't you not fire the coach on Monday mid-season and start sending out feelers to top candidates? Who coaches the team Tuesday? Which recruits stay committed under a 3 game staff? Isn't everyone better off at least waiting until the end of the season?
