If I were a coach who got pushed out the door Im pretty sure I'd tell the media I "left voluntarily" too.

^^^^ This. That is why "I am leaving to spend more time with my family" or "I am leaving for personal reasons" is a euphemism for "I am being fired and am trying to save face.

As an outsider, I don't believe there is a magic number. That is an idiotic way to do business. Tennessee needs to be competitive in every game. Not that I want this to happen, but anything copuld happen. Your best 3 QB's could get injured in a freak slip-n-slide accident. A "number" is irrelavent. Your AD needs to see that the program is moving in the right direction.

CDD should not be on the hotseat. This is the Mark Richt thing all over again. There was a trainwreck to clean up called CLK. I believe Dooley is the only coach to have a losing record over the last 2 years and still pull in top recruiting classes.

This should be the bounce back year for UT. I happen to believe that UGA will win the east (because I am a fan) but I expect you guys to be second in the east. Like I said the other day, 10 wins is very acheivable. But I am just a troll, what do I know.

Maybe Swain and Rucker also think that Da'Rick not being on the field would have helped UT beat Kentucky without his antics all game long on the sideline.

Maybe Swain and Rucker also think that Da'Rick catching a gimme touchdown against South Carolina could have won that game.

He gave and he took away, and I'm not sure how anyone could legitimately suggest otherwise.

The guy ran the wrong routes on purpose sometimes and confronted anyone who got in his way anytime.

  • There is nothing wrong with my story. Once Fulmer resigned, I tracked each reporter's comments on possible candidates. Mike griffith included Kiffin from the very beginning and all the way through. All the other KNS reporters had everyone but Griffith. At the time, Griffith had been taken off the football beat.

Chris Low (SI) and some other national reporter broke the story, which HAD to be leaked by Hamilton. This is speculation, but I assuume that Hamiolton was not very happy with Adams, Hooker and whomever by then. On the very night of the signing, Hamilton gave Griffith, the basketball beat reporter, a full-blown exclusive on the entire process which was posted on Griffith's blog.

I was and remain pretty contemptuous of the behavior of Adams and Hooker during the lead up to the firing. So, I mocked and ridiculed the KNS staff (sans Griffith) on their web. Hooker was not happy and strongly took me to task. Then came the incidents I first posted.

It was after that I did a thorough timeline and reasonably concluded that Hamilton had let Griffith in on everything and bypassed the then current football beat writers. Girffith always called things down the middle regarding Fulmer (good and bad). I am guessing that Hamilton rewarded his fairness screwed the local lynch mob.

No insight into your details here, but I will say Griffith has always been much more fair and borderline supportive of UT coaches, encouraging patience from the fans while Hooker and Adams are typically much more antagonistic on both the radio and in KNS. Hooker always came across as trying to prove he was not supportive of UT in any way to the point of being against them.

  • This whole situation reminds me of a football player back in high school that I played baseball with. The guy had so much talent, he legit could have gone high D-1, which says alot for my alma mater. Two-way star. Only thing was, he was a freakin head case in the locker rooms, Very prima donna, had no respect for authority. His grades were in the toilet too. Anyways, our junior year, he had a great year in football. IIRC, I believe some of Fulmer's staff came to see him play one game. Fulmer himself wasn't there though, apparently, because he was watching Hightower play in Lewisberg. Well, fast forward to the following summer before our senior year. The kid did not show up for a single workout ALL summer. Just figured he could show up for fall practice, and start right away. First game comes around against Hightower and Lewisberg, he fumbles 3 times, two of which were caused by Hightower. The 2nd game, fumbled 3 more times! I couldn't figure out if he was doing on purpose or what, but his teammates greatly resented his presence in the locker room. He hadn't worked out with the team, etc. His playing time was greatly diminished, and he eventually left the team.

Never seen a greater waste of talent. We all knew he could do BIG things athletically, but mentally, he just didn't get it at all, just like Rogers doesn't. Inmy experience, guys like Rogers never do fully grasp things until it's too late.
