Multiple sources close to the situation spoke with govols247 about the status of UT freshman forward Jarnell Stokes' wrist heading into Saturday's game at No. 8 Florida.

  • They say its about recruiting but we will still recruit Memphis weather we play them or not. I think it a good in state rivalry and hope they keep playing.

  • Why not just play another game @ the FedEx Forum, since Memphis State is just a tenant, they could not stop us from that could they? Would be no different than playing MTSU @ Bridgestone a few years ago.

The only problem with that is that UT would have to give up the opportunity of having a true home game to do that. I'm not sure that the money you lose is worth any gain in recruiting, mostly because it would be hard to quanitfy.

Maybe UT could start playing Arkansas or Missouri there as a neutral site game, but unless you picked another regional power, the odds of selling out the Forum are pretty low being so far away from home.

    I'll hang up and listen.

  • That is a great idea to invite another team and play a game at the Fedex Forum....Sounds like a perfect solution.....

I think they should play Rhodes.

Haha, I went to school there a couple years. My high school had a bigger gym.

  • I can almost guarantee you Rick Pitino and Louisville would LOVE to play UT in FedExForum.

I went there as well...though more than a couple of years ago...and can confirm the minuteness of the gym. i'm also not sure the fan base is big enough to make a dent in the Forum. biggrin

I do love the idea of playing Arkansas there maybe every third year rotating with a home and away, and Missouri each year alternating which team gives up the home game. Economically this may not be viable but it seems fun.

Nice, I went there and played football in '96 and '97 before heading up to Knoxville just in time for the National Championship season. Perfect timing, IMO.

I have a feeling that game could easily fill up the arena.
