Hope we can all agree now that Jones needs more

    To be a good southern recruiter doesnt mean you are born a southerner it means you have experience and contacts in the south. Been there done that so to speak. We need more like that and you arguing we don't speaks volumes. The only agenda I have is holding those being paid to improve UT accountable for the results they generate.

    Every player signed today has my full support and will always have it now that he is signed. I will not bash them for their play, that is something you will never see me do. I hold the coaches responsible for the results.

    Once again to many are bowing down at the feet of Butch Jones and he hasn't proven anything to deserve it.

    Alabama would disagree with you. Unless you are saying you only need 3 good recruiters on staff with southern contacts. I am not bowing at the feet of Jones but like you said....'he hasnt proven anything to deserve it'.....I say that he hasnt been given the proper chance to prove anything to anyone. Every situation is different.

    You cant say it is fair to compare the guy to Auburn, Ole miss, Dooley or Fulmer.

    If Jones brings in a less class than Dooley next season and has a worse record than Dooley ever did then I will agree that Jones isnt the guy. But saying he needs something else without having a proper chance to prove something is something not a whole lot of people will agree with.

    So Martinez, Thigpen, Graham, and CBJ himself who has recruited Tennessee hard while at Cincy would all qualify as "southern recruiters" by your definition. Not to mention that Azzanni and Jancek have decent experience in the south. So what exactly is the problem?

    Thigpen and Graham qualify, the others for sure don't and this class proves it. The results are the results you can choose to ignore them but it doesn't change them.

  • Martinez doesn't count - you talking about the guy on our coaching staff that was the former DC at UGA? Not a Southern recruiter? Was his recruiting territory AK & HI while he was coaching in the SEC? The results are those of a great effort by a staff that came into a situation and improved upon it. If you cannot see that you are blind to the facts and unwilling to open your eyes.

    The more you argue the be-hinder you get. A clear agenda-driven post with a weak defense coming from you.

    I just love folks who start a post, statement, etc. with "I think we can all agree" as it insinuates that the dissenters to the opinion don't know what they are talking about. I usually find the person uttering the statement just thinks they know more than those they are speaking to, and as we continually see this guy does not.

    Why would they disagree? They won a freaking national championship two years ago AND have had top 10 recruiting classes the past two. It makes no sense to compare their situation to UT's, none whatsoever!!!!!

    Right,just go to the rankings and tell me again who is wrong? Martinez was fired at UGA we hired him as a lowly DB coach for a reason and I didnt hear one recruit mention his name. So keep talking the further behind you fail,oh i mean fall

    Crack kills....Don't eat lead based paint chips....Being from the south doesn't make you a great recruiter. It is all relationship based, and how good of a salesman you are. Having a few ties to the south may help some but not as much as you are implying. My final words are: If Fulmer had just left, and CBJ took his place, we would not be in the shape we are in. LK, and DD as well as Hamilton, have put us in this situation. Has nothing to do with "southern recruiters".

  • Well AU already had good recruits committed UT didn't Dooley obviously didn't leave us in very good shape. Jones got in late on some very good recruits but its hard to come in late and pick up kids that have been committed already! You keep throwing up AU since your so happy with their class you should jump ship and be an auburn fan then when ever they get down you can find another team that is doing well and root for them! We definitely don't need to hear Debbie Downer today
