  • Cindy said the deal is done in principal but the announcement won't come until after the MNF commitments are completed (ESPN contractual obligation). The comment about Jay Graham being interim was misunderstood what she meant was Jay Graham would be the only coach Jon is planning on keeping on staff. Great news for yall, good luck he's a great get!

  • I dunno about everyone else, but i'm less and less inclined to believe that you've got access to this information. Why would the announcement have to wait? I HIGHLY doubt there's anything in the ESPN contract that would prevent him from saying "i'm taking a job at the university of Tennessee after MNF". In fact, i'm sure it would help with his announcing job. I read yesterday that some coaches are starting to feel uneasy about letting him have info during pre-production meetings for MNF because as of now he's a candidate for virtually any HC position in the NFL that will be open.

If he wants to or has to finish his MNF obligation, I understand that, but I don't think there's anything that would keep an announcement from being made. The more i think about it and the fact that you have 4 posts just reinforces my belief that you're trolling

  • Not quite sure what trolling is but from your written tone it doesn't sound favorable. I have no agenda here just passing along what I've heard from my wife. I'm surprised you're more concerned with why the announcement has to wait until after the MNF commitment is complete than excited he is going to be your coach.

the only point in time i'll believe Gruden is our HC will be once he's standing at a podium at UT discussing how excited he is to be the new coach.

Let's face it, when it became apparent that Dooley wasn't going to be our HC any more, anybody could have started a rumor like this because everybody knows that Gruden is the top candidate. You don't have to have any real proof that you are, through your wives, connected to Jon Gruden. So, if it happens, you can say "i was the one to tell you", if it doesn't you can just disappear into the mist. Then you post that Jay Graham is going to be the interim coach, then you say it was a mix up and that he's the only one that's going to be retained. Interim coach vs. retained are completely different, not to mention i HIGHLY doubt that Gruden would say he's keeping Coach Graham w/o having talked to him/interviewed him. He's a great coach, but my guess is that he's still going to want to talk to him. If Graham was interviewed by Gruden about staying on the staff, you dont think that's something that would have gotten out...at all? additionally, I doubht Jon Gruden is sitting down with his wife having staff discussions with her.

So, if he does become our new HC, i'll be very excited. However, i will not be one of the ones to thank you because so far you've provided nothing but unsubstantiated rumors and been wrong on the only thing that could be proven to this point (interim coach). I'll gladly listen to what Wes, Kevin, and Ryan say because they know what's going on.

  • We don't have to believe the guy, at least let him post what he supposedly knows. If this all works then maybe their was something to it. If I posted something on here and knew it was true and everyone wanted me to show proof I'd tell y'all to kiss my a**. I just try and give people the benefit of the doubt. Not saying I believe him. I don't know just like most folks.

I not saying I believe the OP but I will disagree with you on whether he talks to his wife about a potential staff. I'm not saying he's asking her for advice but I guarantee he's discussed the staff with her to some degree. Maybe you're not married or just don't discuss a lot of things with your wife but in most marriages couples usually discuss life changing opportunities or talk to their spouse just have someone to vent to or just get something off their chest. That's how my marriage works anyway.

My experiences with a lot of coaches has been that, because so much of their time is taken up with coaching and football, they dont talk about it with their wives. They leave office work at the office where it belongs. I am married, and i agree with you that they probably discussed him taking the job, and possibly they discussed who his coordinators would be, but i don't think that retaining Jay Graham is such an integral detail of the job that it's been discussed, particularly at this point in the converstaion. They probably have discussed the pro's and con's and what it will mean for family life with him taking the job. I also dont think he would explain it to his wife in such a way that she would get confused as to whether or not he was the interim coah or being retained, and i dont think that she would then call her friend back after seeing Chaney was coaching to clarify. My best guess is that Cindy Gruden isn't talking to her friends about the coaching staff that Jon is or isn't assembling. I think she knows that anything she'd say about that would be leaked to the media

  • I'm sure this gets TOS very excited, but you can keep it off this board. You are the quintessential troll and I will stake my reputation as a poster on that. You are every bit as informed as the "insider" who tells us that Stoops will be our next HC.

"News" on this site doesn't usually come from posters. We rely on W/R/K to give us news. There are a select few who have earned the right to post "news" here (UTBDUB, LWSVol, etc.). When someone shows up and starts immediately posting "news", it is suspect to say the least. Here is what you are asking us to believe:

Your wife cheered with Cindy @ UT. They talk EVERY day about ALL the secret things that are happening in their lives. You found out from your wife, and, being the good friend you are, immediately came and started posting it on a message board where you had virtually no previous history or credibility. You have already been wrong once, but that was a "misunderstanding" by Cindy. Jon is talking about every detail of the process with Cindy and Cindy is naive enough to share it with her old college buddy who has ties to the university that her husband will be the HC of and still expect that it won't get out.

Come on, dude. This board is more discerning than that.

Now - Gruden may very well become our next HC. But that still won't prove you right. Please stop trolling us. Go to TOS. They will believe you and set mattresses on fire when you are proved to be a false prophet. You'll get all kinds of jimmies from it. Should be fun.

I thought Cindy told your wife that Graham was the interim coach? I guess you kind of hung yourself on that one. You must really be hurting for some attention.

And most husbands wouldn't jeopardize the trust in his marriage as well as his wife's best friendship outside of the marriage in an effort to gain e-cred.

Great point. So that's led you either a bad poster or a bad husband. I would hope you are just a bad poster.
