How Long Will Tennessee Continue To

  • Be second rate? Serious question. We have the money, the fan base, the tradition, the facilities, and we play in the premier conference in America. How long do settle for subpar coaching and an inferior product?

    rexvol

  • Right now were in year 3

    Amershamvol

  • You cannot honestly believe our curren course is the answer. Has there been anything last year or this that has said we are headed back? We won't be set up to beat UF again like that in a while and we choked. We are struggling with an Akon team that has been destroyed by very mediocre teams. Can we face reality? Yes CDD has done an admirable job of putting some pieces in place, but he is not the
Coach that can take us to the SECC.

    rexvol

  • If the university is only willing to pay 2-3 million per year for a head coach, I don't see them ever being able to bring an elite guy. So that's an issue.

    CrockettTM

  • The timing of the last hire killed us and Hammy didn't do us any favors with his inept contracts, but this time we will pay the necessary money. When there are more bama fans in Neyland than Vols it will be the Doolander's kiss of death.

  • If we are year 3, what year is OSU, Arizona, Notre Dame, UF, UCLA and ASU?

what conference do those schools play in not the SEC besides Florida. and there are a lot of things that show improvement on the team. is Dooley the answer I can't say that yet but I know this we need to give him a fair chance look at the team we had when he got here. we r 4 games into this season what if he wins 9 games then what will you say. Hell look at Arkansas and Auburn it is easier to fall then to stay on top. I just don't see how anyone can say for sure Dooley isn't the guy. If you asked Auburn fans if Gene was the guy when they hired they would say no two years later he wins a title then everybody loves him look at them now. 1 and 3.

    Puddin Gooden

  • The Guy from UL-Monroe will be a hot hire. I think (hope) Dooley will pull Through. So heck I really don't know.

    Lee_2001

  • Here is the way I see it. Last year Bama and LSU played us vanilla and we were able to hang around in the first half. Both teams had to be certain they had a game-plan and talent capable of beating us, and they did. They used one game-plan in the first half, and a totally different one in the second half, and pulled away. So, we got run out of the stadium in the second half of those ballgames. Our coaches feathered the throttle in the first half tonight, then gave the zips a dose in the second half. Coaches/teams do it all the time. Dont think that this game was ever in doubt, because it wasnt.

  • I just want to freaking win again. I want to look at the top-25 and see Tennessee in there.

If that's with Dooley...great. If it's with someone else? Great.

I JUST WANT TO ROOT FOR A WINNING PROGRAM AGAIN!!

    CrockettTM

  • i just don't understand why we can't convert a 3rd and 1 against an undersized D line like we faced tonight.
very disappointing and down right frustrating. that should not happen with the size and talent that we have on the O line.

I notice you conveniently left out recruiting base which is interesting given that the money, fans and facilities do not actually score points or make tackles.

By the way, based on the picture Dooley is a much better football coach than you are a golfer.

Do you think that football in the south, specifically on the Hill is comparable to AZ, ASU? As for ND, cold weather climate and academics are the hurdles and yet they are ranked in the top 15. UCLA's campus is in the hood and it the PAC 12. OSU has been winning so I have no idea why you listed them and they just hired Urban.

His fair chance is this year and we are mediocre yet again. Arkansas and Auburn have had recent success, the best we've had is beat downs in crap bowls.

Love your half assed try at insulting me. So a recurring base is how you measure success? How did we ever win it in 98 with such a disadvantage? The fans and facilities don't make tackles? Genius!! But they do attract the players that make such plays.

So you think CDD was ok with being tied at the half with Akron? That game was much much closer than the final score.

  • It's a shame you can't be down voted anymore. Wish you would change to a more fair weather fan base... Go pull for Boise state

Im an alumni of the university pal, Im anything but a fair weather fan. So you are satisfied with our current football product?

    rexvol

  • I agree with Rexvol. I am a diehard tennessee fan, yet I'm also a realist. The performance against Akron last night was embarrassing for me. Calling someone a "fair weather fan" is uncalled for. Anyone on this site is not a fair weather fan IMO. But that is besides the point, Tennessee has been struggling for way too many years. If Miss St. can put a decent team on the field we should be able to as well. I'm 22 years old and living in Chicago, and we have been so irrelevant lately that people seriously ask me what conference we're in. Its not the late 90's, early 00's anymore. Tennessee isn't good, and until we accept that fact we are just going to be more and more disappointed. We are 0-11 AGAINST RANKED TEAMS under Dooley. That is a ridiculous stat. So rexvol, yes we are a second rate team and it doesnt look like we will be back anytime soon. Especially after how we looked against Akron.

  • So you run your mouth on VQ about the same stuff. Get shot down over there, and come over here where your shtick is not as well known. So when are you going to start challenging folks to a fight on here? Don't you have a war room to copy and paste.

    SalsConsigliere

  • This will play out in the next four games. He will continue to be exposed in a miserable way. The moving vans will be arriving soon and the brinks trucks will be close behind. Have hope Vol fans this nightmare will be over soon!

On the positive tip, I do believe we finally have the AD in necessary to get us back to respectability. That's really what its all about, we arent even respectable and have not been for some time.
