Better than if Petrino were named coach!

Would rather have petrino no ncaa problems and you know he can win in the sec what can tressel do

See, now, i go and promise that i have posted my last Tressel post, and you go and start this thread. sigh. Ill repeat. this particular fan would be pretty dang happy. i've probably posted a dozen times on other threads about Tressel. He's a proven winner in a big time conference, with a national championship to his credit, 7 conference titles and 7 top 5 finishes at OSU, and is an elite recruiter. I understand the disadvantages. He would miss the first 5 weeks and bowl game. And that's fair. However, Im willing to live with that to get a coach of his caliber with his resume. National championship coaches with his proven track record arent falling from the sky. People apparently have forgotten what a dominant coach he was. He is not a carpet bagger like Petrino, so I'd think he would be loyal and be here for a while. Plus, i think he learned his lesson following the tattoo gate that led to his demise at OSU. If Tressel had no NCAA issues, he would be No. 1 on practically every schools coaching search list (course, he'd still be at OSU too..). So if that's the case, what we have to ask is are the NCAA troubles a deal breaker for someone who is practically guaranteed to get your program back in the national championship picture? For me, given what I understand he did wrong at OSU, it's not.

If we just dont want to hire a guy with a history with the NCAA, i understand that, and i have no problem with that. HOWEVER, if we hire Petrino with his character issues, and dont consider Tressel, THEN, Ill be disappointed. Im not going to say what others have said, that I would turn in my VFL card if Petrino were hired, I'd still support whoever is the coach, but i would do it holding my nose for Petrino. I just think Tressel's transgressions, even though they involved NCAA violations, and Petrino's did not, are less morally questionable.

Now that's it. my absolute last post in support of Tressel.

UT's already on probation so I don't think Tressel would be a good fit.
