I don't believe for a second...

  • that Dooley doesn't know whats about to happen or already has happened. Does he really think that we are that naive? Seriously.....

  • He is a lawyer and a football coach...telling the truth happens about 5% of the time if that.

Yeah checkerboard I think he knows but if I was him I wouldn't tell the truth either and I'm pretty sure nobody would !

  • Watch the weekly media address, I believe he is telling the truth. I also believe he knows he has to win the last two games to even have any say to tell his side of where this team has been and where they are heading. I am starting to believe that Hart has and will wait until the end of the season.

As CDD said there are two sides to view. For and Against him being the coach. I believe he came into a very bad situation, has improved it, and has not gotten a full 4 years of his players.

Unless this university has a plan and a coach in place to move forward I don't want another 4 or 5 years of coulda shoulda woulda. We all want to believe we are on the verge of somthing great. Changing leaders will set us back again and can this program handle that with the hopes of something good?

  • I dont think Hart is going to tell him or anyone until he is ready that day to have a PC.

Why would you tell your head coach "hey...your fired but go prepare this team everyday and beat Vandy and KY and recruit hard?"

Now he prob knows the writing is on the wall.

Hart is not making it difficult for the players and this staff.......very professional IMO

I actually think that regardless of whom we hire, we would be set back if we retain Dooley. Recruiting will get harder considering every opponent's coach will bring up that he won't be here the following year if he doesn't win in 2013. Our schedule is brutal next year, therefore chances of winning "the right amount" will be slim and for every game we lose, the fan base will continue to belittle him and blast him on message boards and in the media. It would be an exhausting year for everyone involved and the recruiting hit would set us back.

As for what he's done, absolutely the program is improved, but unfortunately as a coach, CDD hasn't improved at all. Still clock management issues, game day decisions, personnel problems, and the record speaks for itself. I like him as a person, but as a coach, there is a lot of room for growth.

I think you're right. I remember when Hamilton fired Fulmer with a few games left in the season, and during the press conference asked Fulmer if he would stay and coach if they became bowl elgible.

That led to a weird month or so before Kiffin was hired and that also allowed a lot of time go by where recruits weren't spoken to by anyone on Fulmer's staff because of the uncertainity.

Personally I believe its a damned if you do and damned if you don't. Have someone on the line and do a PC and announce Dooley leaving and then announce who the replacement is would be idea but not likely. Wait until the end of the season and you have to move quick and smooth to maintain the current players and assure any recruits why they need to stay with UT.

  • Not to make any moral judgments on the issue of coaches lying to the media, but Dooley already proved this year he will answer direct questions with a blatant lie. Remember his answer on Rajion's status for the SC game? I, for one, believe Dooley told another whopper when he "dismissed reports of his dismissal" in the presser today. Note also that 247 is standing solid on their sources who say "when not if."

The decision has been made, don't doubt that.
