    GO BIG ORANGE!!!

  • I think you are overthinking it. The only close game that he should have won was Kentucky. There were way too many other variables to put that all on him.

I had no expectations of who should have won/lost. 1st team O vs 1st team D, not a surprise that 1st team D won out. We are short playmakers there until Hunter, Patterson & Co come in.

He is a more mature qb this year (to hear insiders talk). He will be fine.

    Agent Orange

  • I think the Vandy game last year was a gutsy performance under pressure by Bray. We all forget he was sick the week of the Kentucky game. Not to mention the fact he was still recovering from his injury in both games.

I thought he was on a roll in the fourth quarter against GA last year, until he got injured.

I expect good things from him this year, especially with the receivers we have.

UNC game wasn't Bray's fault. Game should have never went into OT. He had well over 300 yards in that game.

I agree 100%. I don't see how you could even say it was. Defense let that happen.

know i am going to get crap for saying this but i somewhat agree with OP , it just seems that the kid doesnt play well when the game is on the line for some reason . He had a fair amount of time to dive the team down and tie the game with just a FG ( quit laughing ) and he was not even close to getting his team in position to tie or win the game , its almost like he doesnt have the confidence to make it happen for some reason . Felt the same way when we were playing againest UK and we had a chance to win the game and again he just couldnt make things happen at the end of the game and we never got close to getting in position as far as i can remember ...i know he doesnt have all his players and such but it does make one wonder - some kids love the pressure and want the ball with the game on the line and others dont like or want to be placed in that position ...thoughts ?

He was moving the offense just fine as they were already across mid field before the holding penalty. Not many QB's in this league can convert on the 3rd & 20 after the hold and slip. The slip was a mistake, but the only reason he was called down is because he was touched, it probably wouldn't have been a sack under normal circumstances. He was much better this spring game than last, and as good as he was to start last year after that I am not worried.dramaqueen

Sports are a zero sum game. You win or you lose.

As fans we want to rationalize all of his losses, but against UNC he threw an int in the endzone to end the game, against UK he was healthy enough to play and he lost, in the O&W game he had the ball with a chance to win the game and couldn't do it. I really hope I'm wrong but if we are losing to NC State by 6 with three minutes to go, do people still believe he's the guy to drive us down for the win

Football is a team game. You win or you lose as a team. Bray has made mistakes, but he has also been put in some bad positions.

  • The best stat of the day for me from Saturday isn't really even a stat! I didn't see any egregious, or ill-advised pass attempts (from Bray) to force the ball to Da'Rick or Mychael Rivera. He took his check downs and completed solid balls all over the field. Also, there was another completion to Da'Rick that should have been a touchdown, but was called back because Brewer reached out and tagged him, but there would be no way for Brewer to have actually tackled him from his position. That should have counted as another 6.

Alos, the game should have been tied because in the third quarter the White offense drove the field and gave the kicker a manageable, short/medium range kick which he almost put out of the SIDE of the end zone. That has to be demoralizing to move the field and have such an easy kick missed.

  • He needs to win some big games if he wants to make it into the Nfl but I don't have concerns about him being a winner.

  • Everyone seems to forget that Bray went 5 - 30 in last years OW game, then came out and looked like the best qb in the SEC against Cincy, i think its safe to say that scrimmage stats don't mean anything when it comes to Bray. As long as 11 is out on that field at 100%, i wouldn't worry about anything.

  • Honestly it's great to see so much positivity about the program. I think Bray is very skilled and obviously is capable of putting up numbers, just not sure he's the competitive type that will refuse to lose games. We shall see, I hope I'm wrong.

    Go vols!!

  • I got killed for posting this after the orange and white game, do you guys still feel the same way about Bray?

I don't mean this as an "I told you so" post or a defense of Dooley, but looking back at UF, UGA, MSU, and now Missouri, I think Bray has consistently gotten outplayed at the end of games by the opposing QB.

Maybe it is coaching. Maybe it his make up. Just curious what the board thinks with two games left.

Our defense got Bray killed. We averaged, what, 35 ppg? That was plenty enough to win a good share of our losses had we had even an average defense.

I looked and saw this and saw the downvotes and was like what!? Then realized it was from 7 months ago, and I agree 100%
