I think I see the problem with our bball team

  • We are talented enough to compete with any team in the nation. I also think we have one of the better point guards in the sec and maybe the country. The problem comes when Trae has a bad night like players do, we have no one to take over for him. We need Mcrae to score but if he has to handle the point then that takes away from him scoring the Ball. There is no depth at the point, Armani Moore is more of a wing player imo and Brandon Lopez isn't ready yet. That's why we need to hope Trevon Landry comes in and can play and we get Darius Thompson because to me in basketball you are as good as your point guard and that showed Saturday and at the first half of the season. Just like in football your just as good as your Qb, My point is it isn't going to matter that Hubbs and Maymon are going to be in the lineup next year, if we don't get some help for Trae then I think we will have problems next year.

    I definitely see what your saying and agree. However, What I saw from Trae yesterday was very discouraging. He needs to understand that when he's off on his shooting he can still contribute in other ways by driving the lane, kicking it out to open shots etc...his body language yesterday told me he gave up early on and that is unacceptable! I myself have never thought of him as an elite PG but this team definitely goes as he does and he let them down! As for coach Martin, he couldn't do anymore yesterday than what he tried to get these guys going but, IMO, McBee should not be on the floor unless we have a lead and can afford erratic shooting. I like him, he plays hard, but I felt Several shots he put up yesterday late in the second half hurt us more than helping. To me it wasn't the right time to shoot your way out of a funk. The ball easily should have gone to McRae for him to shoot or find the open guy. Sorry so long, got carried away a lil. Lol! VFL!!

    TG is definitely a part of it. I look at it like this, TG playing well is a sufficient condition for us to win, but it's not necessary. Truly, when Trae is aggressive penetrating, and making shots, we are tough to beat. But when he has an off night, we have others who CAN and SHOULD step up and make shots - Stokes, McBee, JR, Hall etc..Yesterday was just one of those days where we could not find that "other" guy to step up to help Jordan out. I dont think it was lack of effort, i just think the shots didnt fall. Stokes couldnt get going down low, and no one else could find the range. It's disappointing it came at a time when we really needed to keep the momentum going, but every team has games like this. Nothing to do now but move on and beat Auburn. Dont let one loss become two.
