When did Dave Hart mention Jon Gruden?

Dave Hart never said anything about Gruden. It is the media that has done that. He controlled the information coming from The AD - and did a good job considering that virtually nobody is in agreement on what's going on there.

I think before we pull out the pitchforks we should at least let him hire someone. He may turn out to be the best AD we've ever had. Lets give him a chance at least

Our fanbase is going crazy for Gruden. There are like 20 new threads/day on this website alone that pertain to Gruden. Hart goes out and attempts to make the hire - the ones the fans want - but according to proven sources, after a little mulling it over Gruden decides he doesn't want to coach college ball. What should Hart have done differently during the past week or so? He can't say Gruden won't be our next coach if he is pursuing him can he? On the other hand, he can't announce tht he has extended an offer to/ has interest in/ has talked to Gruden because then why happens when Gruden decides not to take the job. Seriously, before we go firing this guy lets at least let the guy make a hire.

Guys if you don't control the discussion it will control you. He knew what was being said. He should have been meeting with the press. Down playing the rumors. The quite game he is playing only let things get to the place where more than your normal 1/3 will be disgruntled.
Again I will be happy with any of the coaches Wes has been talking about. Read this board there are tens of thousands upset and it didn't have to happen if Mr Hart had not been playing the quite game. Flame away, he could have prevented it getting this big.

Read the thread Gruden's agent speaks out. Hart never spoke to Gruden. He should have controlled this, by talking to the press. It should have never let it become so big. What we have here is a failure of the AD to do his job.

I disagree with you brother. That's what fans do, talk about what they like or want. What good leaders do when they see thing going the wrong direction is take action. He should have talked to the press. He should have called Wes and Hubbs in and said we haven't talked yet help me out here. Several Bible verses come to mind, but I'm not going to preach here. If I lead my church the way Hart has led the UT nation the last few weeks I am sure God would have fired me.

What wrong direction? What does your bible say about rumor mongering? It's one thing to speculate and listen to rumors on a sports board and another thing all together to call for a man to lose his job because he didn't satisfy yours and others desire to know. As for the several verses your not going to share with us let me make a suggestion from the Gospel of Matthew "be wise as a serpent but gentle as a Dove". That seems to fit what Hart is doing. Is his obligation to finding the right man the right way or satisfying those who can't stand not knowing and getting their speculations confirmed. Is he perhaps maintaining silence for confidentiality reasons? I have to say I am disappointed in your reaction. But that's just me.
