IMO THE HEAD COACH COUNTDOWN

  • In order listed below

    1. Gruden
    2. Mike Singletary
    3. Philip Fulmer
    4. Charlie Strong
    5. James Franklin
    * with any coach we need to retain Jay and Sam w/ a possibility of Hinshaw
    * also got to hire tee and that is mandatory
I didnt list bob stoops patterson or petrino because i do not think they are realistic hires for various reasons...

  • Mike Singletary?

    VFL1985

  • Phil will never coach at UT again. He's been on the bench for 4 years and was an aweful coach when he left. He's not gonna come back in, wave his wand and start bringing in championships. I love Fulmer. But the UT faithful needs to realize that hes washed up and its time to move on from him.

  • I sincerely doubt that anyone in the athletic department cares if Tee Martin is on the next staff. I love the guy but have seen no evidence that he is special as a coach. We need special.

As to Fulmer, there is no doubt he took a wrong turn. Like Dooley, he decided to change coordinators and systems in a year he should have been more concerned with his w/l. BUT, the man built our program to the top echelon nationally. His resume is better than any résumé on all these lists that pop up. Can he do it again? Who knows, but he HAS proved that he can do it. Considering no matter who's name is mentioned there are always people against that person it may be time to reconsider Fulmer. We could sure as hell do worse considering the realistic names that are mentioned.

  • Not trying to be rude but that is the worst list ever after Gruden and Strong. None of those coaches make sense here nor would be accepted by the fanbase to unite it.Seriously Singletary the man who drops his pants during speeches Phil is washed up Franklin would make us more of a laughing stock.

I forgot about that with Singletary

If you think this coaching hire is going to unite the fan base you aren't paying attention. We can't agree about anything and will likely never be united again. You have to toss that thought completely out the window in this search and find the coach that comes closest to meeting your requirements. If that pisses off the fan base, so be it.

Singletary is a great nfl assistant, but isn't head coaching material at any level.... He is out of control.... You can't pull down your pants and "moon" out entire team at any level.... Unacceptable behavior....

Recruits at a HUGE level and helped out Lee and Woods, sounds better than Hinshaw IMO

  • Aighty, setting meself up for more down votes but here goes.

When the fans have had their wish in recent years it has blown up in our faces. We couldn't stand the "book" Fulmer's program used for offense. Had to have a faincee new fangled offense like Florida. So Fulmer hires Clawson to bring us just that. We know the results.

The fan base wanted Kiffen almost as badly as they want Gruden now. Again, #fail.

So I hope Hart simply does the best he can do with the limits he has as well as the opportunities he can offer potential candidates. The success of the next coach, rather than what the name is or who the fans want is ultimately all that matters.

I will not downvote people that support coaches that won 152 games.

He needed to go but it should have happened way differently. We are way worse off now......

  • I think the only thing that will unite the fan base is wins no matter who the coach is. If we start winning everyone will be onboard and be behind that coach (jmo)

    Correct.

  • Imo i perfer a coach that has nfl and college experience solely for recruiting purposes and it would help if they were championship proven on some level of play

  • Singletary took a few too many shots to the head. He's crazy.

I would cry if we look at Franklin.
