If Jawuan and McCullers come back....

  • We will be starting four seniors and a junior likely to leave early on the offensive line:

LT - Tiny Richardson - Junior
    G - Bullard/Jackson - Senior
    C - Stone - Senior
    G - Fulton - Senior
    RT - J. James - Senior

and four seniors on the defensive line:

    DE - Sentimore - Senior
    DT - McCullers - Senior
    DT - Couch - Senior
    DE - Smith - Senior

That means there is going to be massive turnover for 2014. I don't know if I've ever seen that kind of senior-laden group along the lines at UT all at once.

    Something to ponder.

  • This is the reason that CBJ signed a 6 year deal in my opinion. I have a hard time believing we win more than 6-7 games next year and the next year might be worse.

  • Yeah, wow. Probably not even a given that Tiny would be back in 2014.

not to nitpick, but wouldn't Jackson start over Bullard?

  • Ah yeah I forgot about Jackson.

This makes perfect sense if we are expecting Jones to only deliver us the wins that we're used to.

But if we expect Jones to actually win some that people don't expect him to.... then maybe we can actually have a good season! It's not as though our recruiting has been horrible. It's not as though our roster is terrible. Honestly, why *shouldn't* we win some games?

I completely agree with you. I have a hard time believing we get more than 6-7 wins next year. But I am trying to remind myself that football games are football games. If Jones turns out to be a good coach, I think we've got a shot at a return to decent seasons... starting now.

  • Wow. With James back, that's probably the best o-line in the country.

  • Next season's win total depend son how much (if at all) the defense improves and who leaves early for the NFL. The offense could be pretty good with that offensive line and that could keep us in games - even if the D is modestly improved.

  • I will be shocked if the D isn't massively better. There's enough talent to be in the top 50 with a competent coach.
