A bunch of weird stuff happened in that case. I think there was some behind the doors lobbying from Saban to get the Bama job. Saban was personal friends with US Sen. Joe Manchin who was governor of the state of WV at the time. Rich Rod accepts the job and Manchin, and wife Rita talks him in to staying at WVU. Search goes quite for three weeks. Next thing you know Saban is on a plane from Miami to Tuscaloosa.
Finally these are grown professional men. I doubt they get petty over not being offered the job first.
