  • gotta say I'm impressed to not see any screw Urban and screw Ohio State posts so far. The SEC arrogance must not show it's face until you make it to the southern regions of the conference.

We are now back to a defense in which our players grew up knowing and playing, so as I see it, we will be back in top 25 in defense next yr. any addition, especially one of bells caliber will be just adding on to the underrated talent we already have! GO VOLS!

Whether TN, AL or whoever...why would a kid that's been arnd the SEC his whole life opt for a Big10 school? Just don't get it if that indeed happens. Obviously it's his choice and will wish him the best regardless of his decision. Hate to admit it, but I've got Bell as a coin-toss now.

    Urban Meyer. The guy just gets it done in recruiting.

    That being said, I like our chances with Bell, he's a Vol at heart and there's something to be said for that.

  • it looks like Bell is going orange & no offense to anyone in here but it makes zero sense. I realize Im not going to make any friends with this but IMO Butch Jones was not the right hire for ya'll - he basically rode Brian Kelly's coat tails in central michigan & cincinnati but even in UC where he should have dominated - he lost to Toledo ?? I dont get how he can sing a better tune then Meyer is at tOSU & im not just being a homer LOL - ya'll are a long way off from making any noise in the SEC let alone nationally where as tOSU is primed to make national title runs for the next 3 years in the very least...oh well...I dont have anything against Tennessee - I actually liked 'em when Fulmer was running things - but it just looks like 1 bad move after another since then...good luck

    CBJ has done nothing but hit the ground running since he got to UT. He didn't just ride the coat tail of CBK, he improved the program on both sides of the ball. I don't think you have all your facts completely straight on this subject, but to each their own. If Bell does chose UT then he does because he grew up a fan and he wants to play in the SEC. All in all, CBJ was not a bad hire and I'm not following your logic in thinking this. Every coach that has made something of themselves started on the coat tail of someone to include CUM!!!! I guess time will tell. Good luck to y'all!

  • Cbj was not a bad hire. NOONE can say that with any sense of a str8 face and with ANY EVIDENCE behind the notion. He has done a good of a job so far as any coach would have. Again I ask the question. Who else would be better for the job that would have taken it??? NOONE. He is a great and proven coach. Unlike Dooley. Again. Unlike Dooley. CBJ is proven to be a championship caliber coach at every level he has competed. I am hoping he can do what saban and miles have done by coming from a lower conference then making some BIG noise on rocky top. We bleed orange down here and we have something called spirit and common sense. Common sense says that every team worth mentioning has a string of flat yrs. just like bama did with Shula. We're back! And we ain't going anywhere soon!!!! Eat it osu

    i live in cinti - i dont follow central michigan so i admit to just looking at the results there...but he didnt do anything special at UC except barely beat two different 6-6 programs (vandy & duke) but he couldnt muster a B.E. championship when the reality is that is by far the easiest BCS conference. Did i mention that UC lost to Toledo? uh...yeah...i did. Im not trying to be disrespectful towards UT but its not like ya'll have been close to competing for SEC titles since Fulmer left so I would be hesitant to think that Jones is going to do something he has never done all of a sudden and on the biggest stage possible...the SEC is loaded with high caliber programs...I would love to see someone other then Bama or LSU or Florida play for a National title but then you have Georgia / S. Carolina & now TA&M up there too...i am just being realistic. tOSU on the other hand has a lot easier road so im not comparing apples to apples but what i am saying is - just how important is it to a kid to play for titles as opposed to just play??? I mean if he just wanted to play in the SEC im sure Vandy would put him on the field tomorrow LOL but...anyway...best of luck to Tennessee

    to Jeremy : uhhh let's not rock the "we're back" thing to you actually win a few games kid...i get the homerism shit...but - let's not be delusional - you tell me what championships Jones has even played in yet alone won & then maybe i might start believing but the facts are he didnt get it done...Saban & Miles came from the B1G so thats a far cry from a "lower conference" dude - now when you talk MAC or Big Least...o.k. But Meyer definitely didnt take regress when came to tOSU from Florida...btw he started out at tOSU anyway...lol...im goin to bed...good night

    And you still don't address the fact that all coaches start somewhere? I don't see how you can decipher this from a program with a different talent level. CBJ is a better coach than Dooley, however, Dooley beat him 2 years ago! All you are saying is absolutely nothing! The fact of the matter is that everyone will have to wait and see what happens over the next few years just like any other coaching change. With that said..........................GBO!!!!!!!!

    Happens to every team. A team comes back after a few yrs. look at history. Ohhhhhh and remember tennessee has and always will have much more prestigious history than oswho. It's simple. Btw their top ten in wins in history Of cfb!!!! Well be back. We're due. Who wants to play in the small ten or wherever. Tennesse plays roughly 6 top ten teams next yr. if bell wants to get ready for nfl I see no comparison to where he should go. Regardless of winning a nat champ or not. "Go vols" is gonna be my response to whatever else u reply. So just shut it. GO VOLS!

    He won 4 Big East Championships while he was there. Making uninformed statements renders you smack talk useless...

    He has an amazing record as a head coach. He has already brought a fire and passion to the university that hasn't been there since Fulmer's early days.

    This staff has been relentless on the recruiting trail. They have rescued our #40 rated class and put it in the top 25 and possibly top 15 depending on how things shake out tomorrow.

    It remains to be seen how he will do on the field, but this staff has had success everywhere it had been. I have no reason right now to believe that the same success won't be enjoyed here.

    You keep saying he lost to Toledo, oh well. You have bad losses some times. Meyer went 7-5 his last year at Florida. One could argue that Meyer won his championships at FLA with Ron Zook's players, and when he had all his players he went 7-5.

    Now me, I'm not dumb enough to make that argument, but this is what your argument sounds like by saying he will be bad because he lost to Toledo.

    Come on man, be real, Jones is a good hire for UT and his impact is already being felt.
