Butch Davis isn't remotely in the "impressive" category, IMO, but even if he were, we simply cannot hire a guy in that much NCAA trouble, when we're not completely off the poop list ourselves. When you've had any big issues with the NCAA at all in any revenue producing sport in the last decade, you don't hire coaches with past NCAA issues (other than immediately and honestly reported secondary violations) at all, period.

Just the way it is. JMO, but I don't consider a single candidade who is remotely possible to be in the same category with Gruden. I've said it for weeks: barring a complete collapse down the stretch, if we don't have Gruden in the bag, we keep Dooley.

However, rather than any of the "alternates" mentioned, I'd rather have Jack Del Rio. Lovie is successful right now, and in any event, isn't a fiery guy. Strong wasn't smart enough to know the rule on the muff/touchback the other night. Peterson is reportedly a scientologist, and while most people on this forum probably don't care about that, most of the bigwigs would. Plus, the NCAA is sniffing around Boise St. right now, too.

Maybe it's just the fans, but I'm ready for a yeller and screamer who demands perfection. Hugs aren't working with this generation. Apparently, scaring them half to death does: See, for e.g., Muschamp, Saban, Kelly the curser, and on Saturday, UGA's DC. I'm convinced Saban's team thinks he'll personally have them flogged if they screw up. Maybe a psycho is what we need.
