If not Gruden, then who and why?

That's because you have no idea how bad Temple is, not to mention the area is a horrible area of Philly, parents don't want there kids to go there.

Temple Football was the laughing stock of college football from 1990 until Golden got there. From 1990 until 2006 there record was 38-151... That is abysmal. They don't have there own stadium, and the stadium they do play at is 7 miles from campus. What Al Golden did in that short span was nothing short of miraculous.

Still doesn't prove to me he can be successful in the SEC. Apples to oranges comparison. Unless we hire a proven winner at the SEC or higher (NFL) level then as far as I'm concerned it's a flyer hire. No thanks.

I think Gruden would be a home run hire. Mullen is a step up from Dooley. Cutcliffe isn't flashy, but I think he'd do a great job. Dorien(sp) at NIU seems good, but he is unproven. I wouldn't be surprised if he is on Kentucky's list.

Mullen maybe but not a homerun hire IMO. Cut is a great guy but has never been much of a recruiter though he would continue the off field discipline that Dooley has started.

  • it's simple: go big or go home...Go Gruden or stay where we are at to stabilize financially til we can get a "Gruden"...ol Saban has paid for his salary by weight in gold...no more bunting or swings for singles...swing for the homerun fence!

  • I live in Jacksonville. I would walk Dooley to school everyday vs. hiring Del Rio... Please! Peterson, Boise St... Been saying it for weeks. Talk about recruiting nationally... How in the hell do you get talent to that place? In fact where is that place?

  • Boise is in Idaho, but you knew that. Since we are all trowing out names how about Andy Reid lo, Vick is causing him to lose his job in Philadelphia. But that's what you get when you go all in on a quarterback who can't win like Vick.Drizz might like to comment on this since he lives in Philly

When Reid gets fired it's almost a given he's going to San Diego after the Chargers fire Norv. I think at one point he coached at BYU (He is mormon). Andy has had a rough year losing one of his sons to heroin overdose. I'm not sure he would want to look after 80 young adults, he had enough trouble with his 2. I just don't see him leaving the NFL.

Some team will jump all over Andy when he gets fired from Philadelphia. Leaving Philly might not be a bad thing for Andy. Hell of a coach though.

  • I found it interesting that Kevin Steele spoke at the QB club yesterday and said he and Gruden had "talked quiet a bit of football over the past several weeks". They are friends and coached together at some point.

I have a feeling that IF Gruden coaches next year it will be at Tennessee. I think ESPN is our toughest battle
