Impact of Ryan Jenkins commitment

  • So obviously we all got a nice Monday morning surprise with the news of Vol legacy Ryan Jenkins flipping his commitment from Clemson to UT. JC Shurburtt of 247Sports called Jenkins "one of the top slot receivers in the country" and the "biggest get to date for Butch Jones". Keith Niebuhr, also of 247Sports, says Jenkins is "friends with both 4-star RB Alvin Kamara and 5-star DE/Auburn commit Carl Lawson". Deshaun Watson, a 2014 Top247 Clemson QB commit, wished Jenkins good luck on Twitter and also said "My boy (Ryan Jenkins) gone ball at UT man.". Nicholas Ruffin, a 2014 WR from ATL who is not rated by 247Sports but holds offers from UT, Vandy, LSU, USCe, ect., says via Twitter "Congrats to this man (Ryan Jenkins) for his commitment couldn't be prouder of him wish him the best and show out #VFL #RockyTop".

Now what does all of this mean? I don't really know. It seems like this Jenkins commit could have great ramifications regarding other recruits. Just wanted to share my thoughts and what I've been seeing. Go Vols!

  • I hope so.

  • He's apparently also friends with the Berry brothers and knows Dillon Bates.

It's very real that we could have a ton of legacy players in the near future between the Berry bros., Jenkins, TK Jr., and Bates.
