Iowa State upsets OK State

  • I can't believe it. Now an all SEC national championship looks inevitable.

  • LSU still has to beat Arkansas and then Georgia, just to maybe get a shot at Alabama again?

    What a conference!

Not really. Arkansas probably won't jump Alabama and LSU after losing to the Tide by 24 earlier this season. In fact, after thinking about it, in most scenarios I can envision, LSU still would play in the SEC title game even if it loses next week.

Tie breaker is based on highest ranking correct? If Arky beats LSU, Bama will play for an SEC Title. Isn't that correct?

You're half-right. Three-way ties for SEC division titles are decided by the BCS, but the highest-ranked team in the BCS only goes if the second-highest ranked team isn't within five spots. If that's the case, it goes to the head-to-head tiebreaker between the two highest-ranked teams.

For instance, if LSU lost and dropped to, say, No. 4 while Alabama moved up to No. 2 in the BCS and Arkansas ended up at No. 5, then it would go to the head-to-head tiebreaker between LSU and Alabama, which obviously goes to LSU.

  • If Arkansas beats LSU badly- then they could get a rematch against Bama in sugar- or auburn could beat Bama and give them claim to SEC title game

This is the possibility that hasn't been mentioned much. Arkansas really needs Auburn to beat Alabama if it wants to have a shot at playing in the SEC title game.
