Is Davin Bellamy This Years Gabe Wright?

  • Easily the most vocal of the players we have or are trying to get. Odds are he will probably commit to our staff and UGA's. He will probably commit in some flashy where If we don't get him he will be up there with Gabe Wright for me. Gabe Wright is easily my least favorite recruit of all time, and I can't wait for our O-line to destroy him next year when he comes to Knoxville.

  • Yes.

After his antics, I am not "high" on Bellamy anyways.

  • No.....Gabe Wright said UT was right there for a while vs AU and some reported the night prior to NSD that UT led and he would sign with UT. I never saw UT as the leader for a few reasons.

    1. Where he grew up was minutes from AU
    2. AU did lead for more of his recruitment...UT never really led
    3. He "secretly" visited AU again the week prior to NSD unofficially IIRC.

IMO he is a bit like Ford......but Ford is just not the talkative type Gabe was (hope I am wrong and we get Ford).......maybe something like that WR Ambles that went to USCw over UT/UNC.....he ran his mouth more than anyone should and of course he never panned out. Bellamy is not a bad comparision but I think Ford is closer a we are close but most think AU leads and he might have made the late unofficial visit to AU. Ambles would be my other choice if you are talking about running their traps

For Trooper to have Wright speak with G Jones, UT must have been close or even in the lead a bit right before NSD.

That was for Wrights mama............Gabe loved AU and was always his favorite. Mama didnt trust Trooper and it settled her mind. Once that happened....Gabe was clear to follow his dream.

Have to agree with you on this one. He reminds me a lot of Wright and also Bryce Brown. He does a lot of talking for someone who has not played a single snap of college ball. I am not as 'high' as I was on Bellamy a few weeks ago because of all of his leading on. He could definitely help us out in the short and long terms of upgrading but do we want that type of player on the team. D Rogers anyone?

  • Not IMO. He's lacking a star

slightly off topic, but Chris Simms gets my vote for least favorite recruit of all time...

  • I don't understand why the pic with the bong was a big deal. It was in Oregon, everyone forgets the weed laws there are minimal. Weeds not even a big deal. It's so frowned upon in the South because we're considered the Bible belt. Unfortunately the south will be the last region to legalize. That being said he would help our defense yeah i want him.

but we at least GOT those guys..im not talking about what they did after they got here, but more their behavior during the process..as Drizz was referencing with Gabe Wright. C. Simms not only defected from us, but then stabbed us in the back with some unflattering comments on his way out the door to the "other" UT..

Speak for yourself. I was hooked on it for 3 years, and it made my life miserable. It's frowned upon by me because I know how it's capable of dragging a man down. I think the reason it's become a big deal on this board is because posting the pic to twitter displays poor judgement and poor judgement often times results in negative news headlines or the dismissal of a player.

The thing that stands out to me about Bellamy's recruitment is his quote after the UT visit about him not being the only "big name" player strongly considering Tennessee. That doesn't exactly scream humility. If anything, it screams false sense of entitlement. He's not a big name player. He's a 3-star who wasn't offered by Florida, LSU, or Bama. Accordign to 247, there is 34 DEs better than him. If it wasn't for our desperate need at DE, we wouldn't be hanging on his every word.

We need him, so I want him, but if he decides to play LB at Georgia, I won't lose sleep over it.

i always thought crompton was put in a bad situation with so many coaches.i used to get so mad when kiffin refused to pull him but after awhile he improved quite a bit.

My personal feelings about the chronic aside, i dont think it's a matter of the legality of MJ.. Getting a pic taken like that is just plain poor judgment, number one. Number two, if you want to do it recreationally on your own, that's certainly your perogative, but for a D1 recruit, im pretty sure it's not a performance enhancer on the field, and if you test positive or are caught with it at school, you can get booted from the team. And im not saying Bellamy is using, but those are the things that would raise red flags for me.

I'm hooked on it now and have smoked daily for 2 and a half years straight. It only drags you down if u let it. I have hereditary depression and sometimes my antidepressants don't "get the job done" so Mary Jane really just levels me out. Varies on the person but if you can maintain everyday life along with it then I don't see the problem. That being said i love his explosiveness and the potential pass rush threat more than the other DE targets that we're after. We whiffed on Lawson, this is our best chance at a quality pass rusher

Oh absolutely I agree. I'm not trying to be his defendant, but how do we know whose bong it is and more than likely has nothing to do with him. It is his responsibility not to tweet those kinda pics, but hell he was prolly too high to make sure the picture was straight. Or he didn't see it on the table cuz of those sunglasses. cool

There's no denying that. I'm just doing my best to convince myself that he's not a "must get" because it's looking more and more like he's going to Georgia.
