Is it time to worry about this recruiting class?

  • It's been almost 2 weeks and 2 weekends of hosting recruits, since anyone has committed, and we are throwing out offers late in the game. Should we be worried/concerned about this class not getting the top recruits we first thought we could? Is it going to take this staff another year before recruits start to trust them and are they taking a wait and see approach? Waiting to see what all happens this next football season on the field.

    Yes I know there is still a few weeks until signing day, and I hope this staf can pull some major surprises...... But on the outside looking it, it just seems the recruits love UT and this staff, but just afraid to make that commitment. Thoughts???

  • No, UT always closes well on signing day, and I think we will this year as well.

  • No not yet but i believe by around the middle of next week and if nothing has happened then yes because now days it seems like the bigger time recruits are waiting till nsd or even a couple of days later

    ide say your dead on here..but i still think we pull 1-2 and maybe 3 big names..however coach jones can coach up these kids if there 2-3 stars so we have decent season and the 2014 class will be a big
    signing class for us..2013 is what it is...but i still say we have a much better season then we did in 2012

    with less talent coach jones can coach and compete each week..have faith we heading back to the top

  • Yes, I beleive it may be a little slower than most of us expected. This week will be the week that determines this clas IMO...

    We are still in it with guys but most of the top guys we are in on are committed elsewhere which makes it difficult the later it gets,,,, I aggree with the OP...

  • I do believe in this staff and think CBJ is doing a great job so far. I'm very proud to be a Vol.
    Hopefully on signing day we will land a top 25 class. I also think this staff will also coach up several of the 2 and 3 star guys as well as develope a trust with other recruits and the high school coaches, which will help start getting the top guys to commit.

    Things are looking up, it may just take a little time to fully develop.

  • I think it's too early to make a determination one way or the other right now. Recruits have have moved away from making impulse decisions while on OVs, regardless of which schools they are visiting. In a lot of cases, they are talking to their families and HS coaches/mentors before making a decision, and I think that's better for both the schools and players in the long run. As long as these recruits aren't ruling Tennessee out, there's still reason to hop that at least some of them will be wearing orange this fall.
