It wasn't his wife.

  • It's not hoopla over a position coach. I don't care about a receivers coach, and I don't care about building a full staff of UT alums.

It's about a guy with a street named after him looking at our program, thinking about it, and then saying "Nah man, not for me". I'm not mad at Tee. I'm not mad at anyone. I'm just sad and disgusted with the state of our program and the fact that there is no way to hide it. We just got told, publicly, after the guy spent 24 hours in Knoxville, that we are not good enough for one of the greatest players in our history. He came across the country, sat down with our new head coach, and then decided he just couldn't do it, for whatever reason. What does that say about UT?

This is Tebow telling Gainesville they aren't up to his standards. That's what just happened.

Austin Price just posted an article with quotes. It was money and it was that he feels he has a "special situation" in USC. We offered him 400k and USC might be paying him as much as 500k.

So don't make it something it's not. He turned us down because of money and because he thinks he has a better job. That's it.

The problem with that theory is that cost of living and the lack of a state income tax in TN, make the money pretty much a wash, if not in UT's favor. His wife is a singer and wants to pursue her career in LA. By coming to UT, she would pretty much be giving that up. He did not want to ask her to do that. Marriage is a partnership. That is easy an easy decision to understand. the good thing is that it would have only been a slam dunk hire from a sentimentality standpoint. I am not convinced that Tee Martin is that much better (if at all) than Hinshaw (if he has not already taken the UK gig).

Our entire program is built around our history, tradition and love for the University of Tennessee. The whole Vol For Life program is built on that concept. If we're going to "move on" and pretend that stuff doesn't matter then what exactly are we doing here? Without that stuff we are Iowa State.

You are exactly right. So we should demand Peyton leave the Broncos and come back to coach quarterbacks. He has a great job and all but his he really VFL?

Los Angeles is a great city and USC is a great job. It would be tough to pull any coach out of that situation. LA-2, Knoxville-0.

Tee owes UT nothing. He excelled while there and that of course makes him a fan favorite. But, he's a professional now and he has to do what's in the best interest of his career.

It's not 1998 anymore guys, and we as a fanbase really need to move on.

You're right. He owes UT nothing. But he does owe it to his kids(all of them) to be a parent. Not an absent one 3k miles away by choice.

Yeah, keep equivocating. That and offering a guy the same job he has and an opportunity to come fix the program he helped define are two totally similar situations.

  • So all the hype about being his second home is really his second home if they pay him 500,000 dollars or more? I like Tee Martin as a player watching him on TV. Let him stay with Kiffin if he wants too. He gave us look and didnt like what he saw so that is fine. Who's next?

Look Im from Nashville I went to Tennessee. When the Titans pusued Manning and turned us down.I didnt start the hate on him.Football is a sport but besides the College athlete its a business. You will always take the better money situation or what is the best situation..Living in LA and making a half mil is a pretty sweet gig.I believe he stayed because when Kiffin gets fired he might get a better position.Stop whinning cause something didnt go your way. Its his life to choose where it wants to be at this exact moment in time not yours.

    no

    apples and oranges

Titans are oilers in titans clothing. A Vol is A Vol. I live in the Indy area and have quit being a Colts fan because they did a Vol wrong. I almost went over the checkout lane at the supermarket last week because the clerk said he was glad Peyton was gone because he was old. He's lucky I am the old one (59) hammerand have a bad back or he would have had a fresh can opened up on him.hammer

This coming from the same person who talked about UT's long tradition. Since when does ONE former player define a program?

Tee's happy with the job he has now. Let it go. UT might be your dream job, that doesn't mean it has to be everyone else's.
