It's Bell or bust now...

  • We NEED Vonn Bell to sign with UT tomorrow. If we miss out on him, then that's 1-5 on big-time prospects (Got North, but missed out on Lawson, Levenberry, Green, and probably Bellamy) and we're probably stuck with a 20 or 21 member class (assuming at least 2 out of the 4 of Brown, Miller, Boyd and Dobbs come to UT)

    C'mon Butch...bring Bell home!!!!!

***Note: Allow me to clarify a little: I am NOT saying that this class will be a wash if we miss on Bell, I'm just saying that as far as big-time, nationally acclaimed prospects go, Bell is our last shot. Also: PLEASE DO NOT ASSUME THAT I BLAME BUTCH JONES FOR THIS IN ANY FORM OR FASHION WHATSOEVER....I DO NOT. I have been very vocal about my confidence In Jones and I truly believe that the 2014 class will be something spectacular. I place every single bit of the blame on Derek Dooley. There is no argument you can show me that would refute my analysis that Dooley gave up on recruiting after September. None at all. Screw you Derek Dooley...screw you.

***Another note: With Levenberry sticking with FSU, I have to think that it's a foregone conclusion that Justin King will move back to LB. I mean, only signing 1 LB in this class and keeping King at FB? A position that is virtually never used it Butch's system? That would be completely illogical. Gotta move King, Brent Brewer, and heck. maybe even throw a few pounds on Jaylen Reeves-Maybin and put him at OLB. We need linebackers BAAAAAAD.

  • Jason Carr?
    JRM?
    Paul Harris?
    Jenkins?
    Vereen?

I agree that we need to add a couple more pieces but this class is far from a wash. We have convinced a couple 3 star players with great potential to walk on even!

For the lack of success and all the coaching turnovers this class is actually pretty damn good and Bell could make it great considering how far behind we were for him at one point.

I think Butch has done an exceptional job so far with the hand he was dealt...I'm just saying that Bell is the last "big fish" left. I think 2013 will be a good class, but Bell would make it great.

  • I realize this goes without saying, but let's all remember that we came in late for all of these top tier guys. Just imagine what a full year will bring with the way this staff is hitting the recruiting trail. I'm with ya on the "we have to have Bell" train but the 2013 class is still shaping up nicer than any of us expected. Retaining Carr was absolutely huge, as welll as, EE Reeves-Maybin. It's awfully hard to stay positive, but we have every reason in the world to. I don't think anyone in the country expected us to be in the top 5 of some of these recruits choices and with some it has been the top 2-3. I have to believe everything is shaping up for the next 4-5 years and longer!!! And maybe I'm just a homer....... Oh well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!volsrockon

  • What about Dobbs?? He could be a program changer. mrt

  • We need Bell, just for the simple fact of putting TN back in the spotlight in a positive manner and building momentum going forward with future recruits. Wouldnt quite consider this class a wash without Bell but being in the bottom of the SEC in recruiting another year is pretty close to it IMO.

Definitely. Land Bell and Dobbs tomorrow and I'm a happy man, even without EJ and Davin.

This is why it won't be a wash... A great qb can be a game changer... Too bad Bray was married to Dooley...

Doesn't look good. Tennessee could sign Bell, Dobbs, Brown, and Miller, but it's possible they miss on all four. Have to hit on all three offensive linemen. Can't have a non-contributor in the bunch and really need two starters for 2014. Got to have Miller and Brown. In 2014 they are gonna have to contribute. On D line in 2014 will be Williams, O'Brien, Saulisbury, Carson, Clark, Lewis, and Carr. Got to have Miller and Brown. Tennessee needs Bell, but they have a ton of DBs that have been poorly coached and not placed in a position to succeed. UT also has a legit shot at Kelly Jr. and Berry twins next year to help the secondary

  • I got a down vote for saying we still had solid players in our class? Wow.

  • Not getting Bell will be very dissapointing and considering its now down to us and the buckeyes, i feel it will be a black eye for this recruiting class not being able to secure a top "in state" recruit. Hoping tomorrow will bring all of us Vol fans something exciting to cheer about! Lord knows its been awhile! VFL!! pray

  • It was gonna be a stretch for levenberry IMO he was one of the recruits that I thought we had the worst chance of flipping and Bellamy would have been a good pick up but this isnt the end I think bell will sign with ut I think if CUM is trying to negatively recruit us I'm sure Bell will see through it and know that Tennessee is the place to be

Bump. Bell was a definite want but not a definite need. I wish all the kids that didn't choose UT a great life and the best of time in college.
