Its official: Hart has no clue about hiring a coach.

  • I've already criticized his decision to hire Jones. That's past now, and I'm going to get behind our new coach. But, Harts decision to give him a 6 year deal is unacceptable unless there are provisions in the agreement that we can let Jones go without a buy out or a very small one. It seems to me we could have got Jones for as lot less than 6 years. I'm just very disappointed in this deal. Hart needs to go asap. Fulmer for ad now!

  • Got to give the guy a chance. Not based off the press conference or blind optimism, but because he has won at two destinations. I'm not completely sold. I know the negatives, but he's here so for those of us who have doubts let's sit back and see if he can get this done and if he can't move on. Making public declarations of failure contradict what you really hope for and that is his success. I like Brady Hoke and Jones, in terms of resume is about as close to Hoke that's out there right now. Of course Brady was Asst. Head Coach at Michigan and won a national title in that capacity, which should not be undervalued, but he was never a coordinator like Jones, albeit at smaller schools.

  • Buyout clauses are standard in contracts now. That being said, the MoU was released BEFORE the press conference, and his buyout is less than Dooley's was.

    The buyout is 2 mil per each year left on the contract less any earnings he gets elsewhere.

    So after year 4, the buyout is 4 million. That's a pittance with the new SEC TV money coming in.

    What's so bad about that?

    You are such a dang on pessimist. Dave Hart has handled himself professionally. That in its self is a commanding statement. Quit with the pessimism.

    Your actually completely wrong. The length of the contract shows to all coaches out there that Tennessee is committed to their coaches. It shows that we do not intend for a coaching search every 3 years. It gives Butch the confidence he deserves to be given, and it improves our public perception.
