I can't even begin to express how disappointed I am in this hire. Time will tell if I'm right or wrong but I have a sinking feeling that in three years UT will be looking for the next Tennessee football coach. I'm expecting 6-6 next year but wouldn't be surprised if its 5-7 or worse again.
I'm not saying he's not a good coach, I'm saying he wasn't the right selection here.

The man turned down two other Head Coaching jobs to come to Tennessee. He knew what he wanted and he was patient enough to wait for it. He wants to be the Vols new Head Coach. That right there speaks volumes for me. He wants to be here!!!!! Lets try and make this man feel welcome and show a little bit gratitude for his dedication to the Vols.

I've been studying Jones' history for the past two days. A few thoughts ...
1. People seem to think Jones accomplished what he did because he followed Brian Kelly at Cincy. A careful study of their recruiting classes shows that Jones actually brought in higher rated recruits. Jones actually won with Kelly's inferior recruits.
2. Jones is an offensive coach. He has run a spread offense, coached wide receivers under RichRod at West Virginia when they were putting up huge offensive numbers.
3. Jones more than held his on at Cincy after dominating the MAC (which is equal to C-USA). He beat Charlie Strong two out of three and his only loss to him (3 points at Louisville this year) was with a rebuilt team. He beat James Franklin's Vanderbilt team just last year in the Liberty Bowl. Much has been made about how Tennessee trounced his team last year, but notice how his team rebounded ... went 9-3 with clearly inferior talent.
4. Cincy players loved Jones, calling him "a players' coach." Perhaps the most revealing observation by a former Cincy player who played under Jones came yesterday after CBSSports.com named Jones its Big East Coach of the Year. Derek Wolfe, now a starting defensive lineman as a rookie with the 10-3 Denver Broncos, said Jones was a great coach and always seemed to give the players just what they needed at the right time.
Folks, Butch Jones may not be the "most sexy," big-name coach out there, but this guy has won everywhere he's been. He has extensive experience as an assistant/positions coach and has had success as a head coach.
More than anything, Butch Jones WANTED this job. Folks, that's the beginning recipe for success. I am glad we have hired someone who WANTED the Tennessee job.
I think he needs to hire some SEC-experienced staff, although he will likely bring three or four of his current staff with him from Cincy. It's his call. We've hired him. Now we have to let him do it his way and support him. Let's roll.

You forgot South Carolina in there. This exactly why Strong and others did not come. Your fan base is delusional, until y'all realize that SC is the BEAST of the East you will never be happy with y'all's results. It's 2012 not 2002
