As a WVU fan and UT follower I think you guys will come out of this hiring fiasco on the upside. I know much of the fan base is in disbelief and angry over the lack of the "home run hire" but to keep it in baseball terms a home run can kill a rally. Butch Jones knows how to develop players and will not be lost on the sidelines. He holds his players accountable and will be a great asset to your school. Butch Jones had a great reputation from his time at WVU under Rich Rodriguez and has built on his reputation from his stops at Western Michigan and Cincinnati. I've heard chatter about his less than stellar recruiting rankings but I challenge anyone to get Cincinnati higher in the recruiting rankings than Butch Jones. UC has old facilities including their stadium that holds just over 30,000. Butch Jones ability and track record combined with UT's facilities, stadium, and fan support makes this a hire with great potential. I've been following UT since '01 when I married into the family and while this hire doesn't excite most today it will when it counts the most on the recruiting trail and gameday. Go Vols!! Let's Go Mountaineers!!

So do yourself a favor......spare us the trash talk, and look at the facts. We are, and always will be a better football school than SC, we will continue to have a rich history, and add to the already HUGE list of accomplishments that SC will never come close to matching. A few wins over us here and there? Sure, but dominating? I think NOT (had to do the big letters one more time)
Speaking of SC's odd mascot, I would like to someday see South Carolina play Oregon State. The matchup would be the Cocks versus the Beavers.

Congrats on the hire Vols! This thread looked very similar to ours a year ago with coach O'Brien. Played against a coach Jones team from his days at CMU while at Temple. Teams were fast and battled for 4 quarters, took us to the woodshed. Give him and your players support, best of luck going forward!
