  • Just 2 cents ... disagree ... stay with our colors ... that's who we are ... stop messin with our identity.
I will say this ... I love the road combination of white jerseys, orange pants ... I call them our "Miracle in South Bend" uniforms.

  • Alabama did wear Nike Pro Combat uniforms. Michigan has worn alternate uniforms. Notre Dame has worn alternate uniforms. Ohio State has worn alternate uniforms. Please stop acting like wearing alternate uniforms are beneath us. Like I said in my earlier post, it's a different era. Either step up and adjust, or get left behind. I'm not saying do like Oregon, and wear something different every game, just once or twice a year.

I had totally forgotten those. They are great. They could even work as permanent road jerseys.

  • Yeah sorry y'all who disagree but I'd love to see some newer style uniforms come out with CBJ. Sure, stick with the same colors, it's who we are, duh. Flash it up a little bit. 21 year old here and I can assure you that kids my age (Friends being recruited by major programs) pay attention to that stuff. They aren't particularly fond of the overly flashy Oregon uniforms, but some of the things Ohio State and Michigan did this were really cool.

Gotta switch it up sometimes guys. The checkerboard underarmour things were pretty cool. Step it up a notch. I still love wearing my black Manning UT jersey on gameday.

Get left behind what? Just because it might be right fo those schools doesnt mean Tennessee should do that. NOBODY dictates to us about our uniforms.

  • Current players are tweeting about wanting time wear something different.

  • I hope they go back to the 90s unis. Those were sweet.

  • I say if the players want it a few times a year and they earn it, give it to them. It's not going to kill our tradition, just like losing a few games we should have won didn't kill it. I don't think a different color uniform is going to win or lose a game, nor do I think it will be a major factor in recruiting. Although I do know that 18 year old kids do seem to think its cool. And I don't think anyone can deny when we came out on Halloween Kiffin's year that those uniforms didn't add spark to the atmosphere and game. I don't have a problem with them updating and changing Neyland, so I don't have a problem with updating or changing the uniforms for a game or two either. In my opinion.

Oh yeah. I love those jerseys. They are very slick.

The jerseys with the orange shoulders and white bodies are known as the protest jerseys. UT had them made in protest when the SEC ruled that one team had to wear mostly white jerseys and one team had to wear mostly colored jerseys. I love them. The only school in the SEC that typically wears white at home is LSU.

  • As far as the design of the jersey, I don't really care. I liked the blackout jerseys and I liked the orange shoulder padded ones. And I like the traditional look. I don't think it's a sin to mix it up every now and then. What I do wish we would do is cancel our contract with Adidas and jump on the Under Armour bandwagon! Just something to spice things up a little bit.

    Butch, please!

  • My Son is 13 and UT is his team but I will say if he has a second favorite it is definitely Oregon for one reason, uniforms. Not only him but all of his buddies. Younger generation doesn't care about tradition as much as they do entertainment, just the way it is.

  • And everytime one of these threads start, and people complain about tradition, someone has to remind them that UT had black jerseys once upon a time. So the whole tradition argument doesnt work. Think of something else.

We live in a different era now. Players and recruits love that sort of thing. We should definitely mix it up from time to time. This program needs a little bit of fresh and new ideas.

What era exactly are we in? The era of dressing like clowns just to attract the attention of people with short attention spans?

  • FWIW Mo Couch just tweeted a pic of...you guessed it, a black UT jersey. I don't particularly care about this subject one way or another. I tend to be a "traditional" type guy, but if the kids like it I'm fine with it.
