The CheckerBoard

Guys, I must preface this by saying that I did not hear the following comments myself. In fact, I heard these comments from a guy I know last week and could not decide whether to put them on this blog. Anyways, for what it's worth, and this is completely speculation, I've decided to share it:

A former UT player that I know was in Jim Haslem's sky box a few weeks ago and he said that Jim Haslem told him that Dooley was gone after the South Carolina game unless he miraculously beat Bama or USC. He said that Dooley knew this as well. This makes sense considering Dooley's comments on the radio with Clay Travis last week in which Dooley responded "I don't know" when Clay asked him if he had heard anything about his job being on the line. Now listen, I don't care much for Clay Travis, but I'm just saying that Dooley didn't deny it. Also, according to my source, Jim Haslem said that they had reached out to Gruden again and offered 5 million/year and were waiting to hear back. I'm not sure of the term. I don't really know how these things work, but TN fired Fulmer at almost the exact same time during the season to help with the recruiting class so the timing of this makes sense. Also, if Dooley ran the table in November it would be harder to fire him.

Again, this is all speculative, but I thought I would share it. We'll see if it's true after the USC game. I do trust the source though, and obviously, if it really came from Jim Haslem, there's probably something to it.

Go Vols. I hope things work out for Dooley and for our program. I'm not a Dooley hater. But I would like to see this program get back on top.
