For him to be hired he would have to have hearing with NCAA and UT officials. That would give him chance to smooth things over with NCAA and prevent further problems for him and UT. And if we hire Tressel we can't hire Butch Davis or Mullen either because of their NCAA problems.

He was 94-22 at Ohio State and won a National Title. He also won 4 National Titles at Youngstown State. He has a murky history with the NCAA yes but according to reports his show cause penalty from the NCAA is not that much of a problem after the first few months he would be on the job. He would be relatively cheap to get and other than tattoo hate ha a relatively clean record. I love what he did at Ohio State and think he would be great here.
Yalls thoughts?

Hey, feeling for you guys. Honestly not understanding why filling this job has been difficult for you. I'm PSU alum living in Nashville..a few thoughts on the Sweatervest..
Tressell is a good coach.
Remember a couple of things - be sure you're fully aware
1. Very conservative offense, stifling defense. OSU's punter got a lot of action, but he's a ball control coach. Alot like Les Miles, but more buttoned up. Not a big passing game guy. I can remember many defensive struggles between JT and Paterno. Lots of 10-6, 12-9 games.
2. Tressell's entire career was in Ohio. He made hay locking down the state. Not sure the relationships he has beyond that state in recruiting.
3. His success is largely based on cheating. Documented cases of him helping payers get paid go all the way back to Youngstown State in 99/00. He was investigated by the FBI at both YSU and OSU. OSU players were found to be working with a Columbus drug dealer funneling money to players.
My only question is, can he recruit outside of Ohio and without paying kids thru shady means.
Maybe he can...I dunno. If I were interviewing him, these are the questions I would have. Maybe he can overcome them.
