A.J. Johnson's first performance against Florida wasn't bad on an individual level, but the UT sophomore linebacker said he and his team are ready for the next step Saturday.

Not a rule necessarily, but more the official's discretion. Usually it is let go, but if it happens consistently or is clear to the covering official that it is on purpose then the official can charge a Timeout to the coach. It has to be pretty obvious though for them to touch it.
