Jon Gruden

  • I like Derek Dooley a lot but I think he is in over his head, more of a mid-conference coach than a big time conference coach. If they do fire Dooley why doesn't Tennessee dig deep ino the pockets and hire a big name coach like Gruden, his wife is from this area or he is can't remember but if I was a big time recruit and seen Gruden a Super Bowl winning coach in my house recruiting me I say where do I sign. We need someone who can whoo the recruits, we always seem to try to go the cheap route on hiring head coaches in both sports. Cuonzo Martin is a great coach and will do great but will Tennessee pay him when any big time school comes calling I doubt it. What I am stating is if theyfire Dooley don' go after some hot shot coordinator g after a big time head coach and PAY HIM geez the University isn't broke

    I c nothing wrong with his post i think he is excatly right thats what ive been saying all along.

    The irony of you telling everyone else to keep their opinions to themselves after dropping you own opinion on the board is hypocritical and laughable. If you can't handle dissenting opinions without basically telling others to shut up, this isn't the board for you.

  • If Dooley goes I'm all for going big and paying the money. But please no more Gruden talk. Dooley will be the coach next year more likely than not so keep your fingers crossed and hope that this big plan comes together this year and we start to see something other than what we saw last night each time UT plays a good SEC team.

  • This whole Gruden thing is way...waaayyy out dated. We went through this after CPF was fired. Give me a break folks. I think I'm going to take a day off. I haven't seen a lot of the usual long term posters chime in since the end of the game last night. I think I'm with them, its just pointless to weigh in on some of these debates because some people made their minds up a year ago and just will not admit some of the obvious undertones in the game last night. Yes we lost, and we probably should have won. But UF is better. End of story. Hopefully we respond well and end this "fire Dooley" mess. GBO

  • Whoa guys, this is not a TOS. Why in the hell are we turning on each other? All of us are frustrated, but Coach Dooley will be on the sidelines the rest of the season so why are we ripping in to each other over pointless speculation? C'mon guys, let's get this board back the way it should be, talking about the X's and O's and stuff without jabbing at each other.

  • Remember the furor over the Finebaum line that Tennessee has the "most irrational fan base?"

    There was an explosion here and the roar was that we are not irrational.

    Then we get posts like this. That's why people say those things about Tennessee fans. I'm sure the OP believes this is a possibility with all his heart.

    But it just isn't going to happen. Just like Peyton isn't going to retire and come back and be our offensive coordinator.

    And, by the way, the Athletic Department IS broke. (See related thread).
