Jones: UT can 'overcome everything'

Dave Hart doesn't deny the need for major repairs in the Tennessee football program. But UT's athletic director thinks Butch Jones is the man to fix them. And so does Jones.

I just hope he keeps pittman, Graham, Hinshaw, and Chaney. I think the core of the offensive coaches needs to be retained, but the Defense needs to be gutted. If it ain't broke...

thanks Wes....up late at night and then back up early I see. (thx for your efforts to keep us informed)
I loved what Jones said about Hart having a great plan....seems to me so many Vol fans were saying just the opposite that Hart had no plan and should be fired. Hopefully those same Vol fans will come in off the ledge, allow some emotion to run it's course, and then rally around both Jones and Hart. I think down the road folks will look back and say - wow look at what good things Mr. Hart did for us all the while we were trashing the guy. I really believe that (even though I still don't get the Gundy chase...he does not fit at all and was never/ever gonna leave OSU). Folks, please just give Hart along with our new HC a chance. People don't realize what a tough job Hart has considering everything going on at UT (past and present) that he has to deal wth. we are fortunate to have the guy.

I agree with you. Hart methodically worked through a list of coaches until he got the best coach that wanted to come to UT, all the while tuning out the media and all the whiny fans. That is what any quality AD would do. We are lucky to have Jones, and it looks like Hart is trying to dig UT out of the mess Hamilton left it in. Now, Jimmy Cheek, on the other hand, probably needs to be replaced with some Tennessee blood.

Absolutely no way he keeps 4. Its most likely Graham only.

Got to say, I didn`t think much of the hiring of Butch Jones to begin with. But, after listening to, and watching his introduction as HC, I`ve changed my mind about him. I liked everything he had to say. Once again, I can see a light at the end of the tunnel. He sounds like he`s all business, and I likie his attitude and his work ethic. I know it`s gonna take time, but I think he might just be the kind of HC we need to get the job done. GO, VOLS!!!

I like the coach's energy! I agree that he is a salesman. That skill can really pay off at halftime when we get behind. This past year I noticed very little change or adaption after half time compared to the other teams we were playing. I think Coach Jones can get them fired up in that 20 minutes! Go Vols!

And, what are you, Cat? A Gay-tor fan? I`m just saying that I like Jones` attitude and the fact that he is anxious to get started. I also like what the recruits have to say about him. And, I must say that I believe he is gonna be better that Dooley.
