Tee got a free ride for him and his family to come to TN to see his boy on UT's dime. He's not coming. I'm ashamed of him. His mind was made up when he got on the plane. Butch should move on.

I politely disagree.....Its not fair to Tee to put this obligation of needing to "come home" and coach at UT to validate he is a VFL. He's paid his dues and will always be a fan of the program, just as we are.

Something to consider - Can you imagine how hard it is to uproot your family, sell them on the merits of Southern California, and once they finally get settled you move back to the South within 12 months? Especially when your current job is a very very good one and your wife's profession certainly benefits from being in Los Angeles as opposed to Knoxville?

Many of us work in occupations that could afford opportunities to work at our beloved alma mater. But we choose our career path based on many things besides our love for UT. Its unfair to ask of Tee to overlook everything else and to doubt him being a VFL should he choose not to come here. He has to look out for him, his family, and his career.

I'd love to have him here. But more importantly, i want to continue to hear this VFL's name as a rising star in the coaching ranks and will support him no matter where his coaching path takes him. Even if it does not include UT. I do agree he needs to come to a decision quickly. No sense dragging this out any longer.

  • Very solid staff with a LOT of SEC ties. Graham will be huge in recruiting for us. If we can Tee to "come home" that will be a huge plus. Listening to smoe talk radio last night it seems that the hang-up with Tee is the "contract length", Wes - any truth to that??

Love the fact that many of the position coaches are great recruiters. I can't wait to get these guys out there and sell this university on the recruiting trail and get this years class a top 15 class

It's going to take an extremely strong push for that to happen. It's a possibility, just not sure how much of a reality that is. But, we'll see

    clap

I agree that Tee is a VFL. He is one of my favorites of all time. With that said, he knows the program and the facilities. He has a street named after him. He should have just politely turned down Butch and we would have moved on. If he turns us down now, it's another slap in the face from Kiffin and we don't need the bad press. If Tee was interested in coming back to Knoxville he should have jumped at the chance. The other coaches hired, we surely didn't have to beg them to say yes. Just saying......Tee could've handled it better for his alma mater.

I agree that it's taken too long. I'm glad that Coach Jones has tried to bring Tee on board but this is taking up more of his time that could be spent recruiting, etc. I hope Tee comes but I think his wife wants to stay in LA and I've heard he is very torn. I won't begrudge him for making a professional and family decision that keeps him at SC. Just needs to happen one way or another so we can move on.

  • Wes, are the UC assistants still in Cincinnati helping for the bowl game?

    Rapt

  • We will see if he gets an offer from Saban. Just saying.

  • I'd like to see Tee return, but I wouldn't blame him for wanting a longer contract if that's what the sticking point is. We just washed all but 1 coach out the door with Dooley - most after being on the job only 1 year. Kiffin's rumored to be on the hot seat at USC, but CBJ may or may not be successful in the next few years, and Tee might have the chance to go somewhere else today with greater stability (read: Bama). He's got to look out for himself & his family, because UT football is, in the end, a business that will put its own interests first. It gives him little choice but to do likewise.
