Seems like a very likeable guy. Wouldnt have been my first choice either but the more i see and hear about him, the more i like him. If this guy can win some games here, he will be a rockstar. And to add to that, all these "Nega-Vols" that are ready to drive off a cliff because we hired him will be first in line to jump on the bandwagon if he does turn out to be a winner. Good piece Wes.

Great piece Wes! At first I wasn't all that happy with the hire but now I think Butch is the man for the job. He turned down 3 jobs just because he had a CHANCE to be UT head coach. He wants to be here and I think that's the kind of guy we need. Don't get me wrong he still has to put a staff together and prove he can recruit in the SEC and win here but I feel a lot better about this hire than I did Friday morning!

I can't help but love Coach Jones. This guy gets it, he embraces our former players and our tradition. I see our program making HUGE strides with him at the helm

No doubt like his personality. Looking forward to seeing what kind of staff he puts together. I certainly understand a coaches wish to keep some of his assistants from past jobs, just hope he looks into upgrading with some of his position coaches and hoping some of the reports I have seen about him looking for another DC and Janic(spelling?) willing to take a job as a position coach. Also as many around here, would sure love to see Tee come home.

At the end of the day....the Football Gods have blessed us...we probably got lucky to get the right guy in the end...this guy turned down N Carolina, UCLA, Purdue, Colorado, Kentucky and others...he has the best resume of any coach hired by UT other than Majors at the time we hired them...anyone who has been around football as a player knows a coach who is a winner when they see him in front of his players. This guy has all the intangibles including fire, body language, tone, inflection, drive, confidence, likeability, I could go on and on...he is a football coach...and a winner...I think Hart may have gotten lucky but that is OK...in the end we got a guy who is a Champion, who wants to be a Vol for life, and is full of energy...let's get behind this guy!

I really liked him telling the players they don't know what they have....so true...all this negative talk about UT not being a good job etc, is ridiculous....UT is a top ten program in every facet. He pointed out we are the 8th winningest program in history...and the facilities are awesome...this guy is a winner as well.

i'm having a hard time trying to figure out just what dooley was trying to accomplish as far as former players go and his recruiting practices in the state.oh well,he's not here anymore and coach jones is. the man is a winner.

I feel like a complete fool. I was one if the people that had Butch down my wish list but my goodness was I wrong . Not only have I done my homework and think he's a great coach but his personality is refreshing a lot more so than Robo-Dooley . I love what I see. Thank you Butch Jones for not giving up on UT. Go vols

Winkle, I know what you mean. I was not at all excited once the announcement was made, thinking Hart had "settled". The more I hear about Coach Jones, the more I like!

I really like CBJ's approach to the fans, players, students, etc. Really looks like he "cares." That said, this upcoming week will show me what he is really made of. He has a lot of work to do on the recruiting trail before the dead period.

Spot on dominic, as usual. So far, CBJ has said and done some good things. Seems to have a good demeanor with the various groups he will deal with. But he will only be able to stay here if he can right the ship. That starts with assembling staff and securing commitments. It continues with a show of improved effort, organization, and execution in games. I am pulling for him and, as always, pulling for UT.
