Cincinnati football coach Butch Jones has emerged as the front-runner for the Tennessee job, sources told govols247 late Thursday afternoon.

This will make it the third time that it's the guy that the majority did not want. I don't know why, but that's just how it works out for us. If it happens hopefully everyone can get over it and support him instead of wanting to run him out of here before he even gets started.

This guy has been flying around the country looking for the biggest paycheck he can find to get him the hell out of Cincinnati and we're going to fall for it. Great. Either he fails or he wins and bolts for at the first more lucrative offer.

Only 1 problem with this article, he was never offered the Kentucky job. Period, didn't happen, he was talked to by the AD, and by Tim Couch but never offered the position.

like it and hope others will get behind him. I say why not? and don't compare him to Dooley as Jones blows him away. there is nothing wrong whatsoever with this guy! in fact looking at his background he stacks up as good or better than Strong. Gundy and JG were never coming anyways...so why not this guy? maybe he just needs to get to a place like K-town.

Just curious - why is everyone against Jones? Is it because Dooley beat Cincy last year? If so, that really makes no sense b/c UT has better talent. That was before Hunter was hurt IIRC.
That's the only reason I've read on the board. Are there others that I'm missing?

Hasn't proven anything? He's competed in 6 Conf championship games and has won twice as many games as he lost! He's nowhere close to Dooley. Dooley is a LOSER and Jones appears to be a winner.

Tell me how many more lucrative offers there will be? If you bring UT back to relevance and have them in the SEC title hunt there are not very many more lucrative jobs. Bama USC, ND, Texas UF. Those are the ELITE of the ELITE jobs. UT is not that far away.

The guy is a winner. Hell he's beat Charlie strong . The Cincy athletic facilities are a joke and yet he still gets recruits to come and they compete. Give the man a chance before you run him off before first game.

this guy has been waiting for us to get our head out of our a$$ while flying around the country. to turn down other opportunites to come to our school and lead our team. that matterers to me. Strong didn't feel that way about our program.
