Jones hasn't done anything to prove he can coach Tennessee: two years at Cincy, where he has done reasonably well beating a bunch of mostly bad teams--fordham, rutgers, etc. The SEC is a HUGE step up. I don't really want this guy--and I definitely DON'T want Kirby. Good gawd: We just hired a bama defensive guy, and he gave us the worst defense in Tennessee history! Kirby is coaching the best talent in the country, also. We should be hiring Chavis. If you're rolling the dice--and that's all this is---why not roll them with a UT guy who's a coordinator at a big-time SEC program?

that would be false. Kelly took UC to two BCS bowls his past two years and was 12 - 0 his last year, hence the ND offer. Jones has never been to a BCS bowl.

Wes, interesting switch in reporting. Have you guys ditched the "what we've heard" because of credibility? Seems to be a good move. As for Davis, who really knows. The media drove the Gruden story, may be the same with this one.

"Mutt"? C'mon, man, that was really uncalled for name-calling. If we use his success as a barometer, and then weighed your success in life, would you do better or worse than "mutt" yourself?
The man's had a pretty successful life, by anyone's gauge, and if you've been a ton more successful than him, then you should have been ponying up $10 mill/year to hire Gruden.
Just an argument why you didn't agree with the hire is fine, but this is over the line, IMO.

I would agree with that but we duplicate it if we go this route!
This pretty much proves they have learned nothing at UT.
