What is the fascination with Lane's position coach?

He needs to hire some home run hitting recruiters. Cuz I believe that he can coach them up, hope we give him a big budget to hire assistants

i dont see him leaving..money to some isnt everything ..health to his child plays a part in his coaching there ..i didnt no..but no way would he leave..and cant blame him..again ive posted on all the threads
jones could be the coach we need...he see something here thats gives him idea he can win and i say he can maybe not his 1 year but by year 3 everyone will be saying different ,,i see fire in this coach'.. i didnt see it in dooley...watchin g espn as i type and they reporting its between smart and jones..ill take jones..i for 1 had enough of the saban coaching tree..ill take jones over smart...recruiting wise i see jones keeping offense assistance..and depend on graham..pittman,,chaney to recruite..so that will some up that part i think...i know we are not hiring this coach for recruiting..but could turn out all right.
again hes done more with less...then dooley has with better class...i can see jones working im telling ya
got good feeling..about jones..and hes done as good as kelly and hes playing for a nc.
at this point jones still hasnt taken the job or been hired wisconsin could be the team to beat for jones
no smart for our head coaching job...that ship has sailed for me...can agree with jones..go vols

I don't think Wisconsin will go after Jones as he is a spread coach and they want to keep their pro style offense.

Most of the fans were not interested in Kelly when Kiffin left and he has done pretty well. I'm not sure why we aren't willing to give Jones a chance. My first choice was Gruden but frankly he doesn't have a history of great success in college. We got used by Gundy and Fisher for a salary increase. I doubt they were interested in UT. Time to chill out. The people in charge know a whole lot more about these people than we do. They don't go around making offers without doing their homework.

Before this guy gets hired I hope Hart reads a discalimer that states . . "Like Dooley, this guy was maybe 6th or 7th on the list but it was getting to the point where I needed to get "my guy" over what was best for the program". This is Hart taking the same path that Hamilton did with Dooley. Personal pride before the program.

When the crap hits the fan like it has for us the last few years you should turn to FAMILY!!. You don't throw DUMB MONEY at the last guy standing. Somehow I don't think Hart had Butch Jones in mind when he spoke of returning UT to its righteous spot in the SEC!! All you "give him a chance" apologists do not carry this program's FIRE.

I am suprised that the UT search is down to cincy's Jones but I was surprised we were down to Charlie Strong a big east coach with two years of HC experience. Of course Jones's HC resume is much better than Dooley's or Strong's in that he has won 50 of his 77 HCing games. Dooley was below 50 % winning @ La Tech and maybe 20 games winning out 49 he coached at TN. So maybe Jones is an improvement over Dooley and Strong. But, that level of coaching resumes was not what the fans, imo,
expected.

I can get behind this hire. You people comparing him to Dooley are nuts. The guy has a 50-27 record as a HC. Dooley is 32-41. Not exactly the same thing. Losing to Dooley doesn't mean jack. Saban lost to UL Monroe. Everyone has bad losses eventually. Even the best of coaches. The one thing Jones DOES need to do (if hired) is bring in Tee Martin as QB or WR coach to please the fanbase and help recruit this region.

I'll give Jones a chance but I think Hart screwed the pooch when it came to Gruden unless the sportswriters are all fiction authors. Gruden would have given UT instant relevance and recruits would have fallen all over each other for a chance to play for him. Pure case of penny wise pound foolish if reports were accurate. Or, Hart has Napoleon, little man syndrome, and wouldn't give up the control Chucky required to take the job. Again, this is only meaningful if sportswriters are credible... UT's $ problems would have been almost instantly solved with Gruden if egos could have gotten out of the way in the finer focus in favor of the larger picture... Apparently Hart thinks he knows best but if he's wrong he'll go the way of Mike Hamilton and the Dodo bird...
