No ur not missing nothing that's just the way these ppl are if Dooley had of beatin Gruden you wudnt hear a word about it cuz they wanted him.... its just the fact they dnt want Jones is all....

WTF???? Really?...we want one of the only coaches Dooley could beat and this is going to be betted how? Petrino and Davis are available and we get this? what about Norv Turner? Or what about Jack Del Rio? my gosh...this is why schools hire a committee... to brainstorm and to touch base with more people than. one man can do on his own.... I'm sooooooo pissed!!!!

Not saying Smart isn't a great coach hire...he may be...then again he may be another Sansuri only better paid.

so more on why not Jones... yes he has won 9 games in the Big East... but really, it's the Big East. Now let's talk about recruiting... in the 2013 claas he hass Zero 4 or 5 stars and has Zero in the ESPN top 300. Tennessee in comparison...with the season we had.. dooley got 2 in the ESPN 300 and 4 - 4 stars....so Dooley is a better recruiter. And Dooley beat him on the field...I don't get this interest on the part of Tennessee

please check his actual wins and losses. He has beaten no one of note and has not taken UC to a BCS bowl. Kelly took UC to 2 BCS games and was undefeated his last year. Big difference between Jones and Kelly.. Anyone here believe notre dame would have hired Butch Jones with his record?

Didnt beat anybody of note? Butch Jones beat Charlie Strong twice and James Franklin in the Liberty Bowl last year.

Uhhh.... how did he out recruit kelly? I just checked on ESPN....the recruiting classes suck.... they're not even ranked... nothing but 3x everywhere. Even Dooley got 4- 4star and 2 in the ESPN 300... so... what r u talking about?

The man can coach, glad to hear he can recruit. Keep/add a few proven assistamts and recruiters and he may be exactly what we need. And, he obviously wants to be here.

A Spartan here: You folks don't seem to like Jones, but he's been a winner at every school he's coached at. He runs a great offense and pays attention to defense. He'd be a good one for you!
