Jones emerges as UT front-runner

I would have preferred Hue Jackson, Greg Roman, or Kirby Smart. If it is Jones, I certainly hope he succeeds. However, Vol fans won't be excited for the press conference.

Of all the other coaches that are available i think he's the best cboice. Kirby Smart has no head coach experience and people want to hire him just because he's from Alabama.

apples to apples comparison is much better than say UT has not out recruited bammer...but when you look at CDD vs CPF vs CLK vs CJM vs CBB who has had the higher percentage ranked class?

The thread should have read Jones to UW because that is where he will be.

Maybe Roman but none of the others imo...and it is a maybe on Roman--no H/C exper. I give the edge to Jones with the experience and he has been to a bowl in the last year. jmo

Kelly got mostly 2 stars, Jones 3 stars, that's what I'm talking about.

THIS IS A GREAT FIT FOR THE VOLS! Jones has achieved success at Cincy despite suboptimal facilities and fan support. He is 44 years old and *wants* to be at Tennessee. If he can recruit athletes to Cincy and then coach them well, I would love to see what he can do with the upper level facilities at UT. For those of you who are continually negative, stop the nitpicking and be thankful that a 40ish coach with a lot of experience under his belt has reportedly turned down substantial offers to be head coach at UK, Purdue and Colorado to be offered this job at UT. Jones has as good a resume as Charlie Strong, IMO. I, as a longtime Vol fan and contributor, am actually excited that we can hire someone of this caliber!

Jones sucks period. He is headed to UW not UT.

So.....does anyone know if there are going to be anymore updates tonight from W/K/R? I'm new on here and trying to decide if I want to subscribe after the free trial. So far, I haven't been really pleased with how often updates are given and there are a lot of questions on here that get asked that never get an answer. Is this normal, or is this just a product of the hot topic of the coaching search. Not criticizing, or trying to be a smarta**. I'm just trying to decide if the subscription is worth the monthly cost to me.

Trust me, the subscription is definitely worth the price..... The updates you "normally" get here are outstanding. They have all been extremely busy with the coaching search. You will get much more here than any other site....

Call me crazy but I can support it. 50-27 as a head coach so he is without a doubt more proven then Derek Dooley and by far a better football coach then Derek IMO. Nominated for Big East Coach Of The Year last year if I'm not mistaken. As long as he keeps Jay Graham and Sam Pittman on the staff, calls Tee Martin and tells him to come home, and brings in some more assistants that can recruit this area then he's fine by me. I'll get behind and it could go a long way if we all get behind him and support him if he is hired. You never know he could very well come here and win a lot of games.

You should definitely stay. Wes, Ryan and Kevin are working around the clock to keep us informed. If some questions go unanswered, its has to be due to this crazy coaching search. This will be the #1Tennessee site. It's just a matter of time.

YES!!! The subscription is more than worth it. W, R, & K are the BEST when it comes to interacting with you and answering questions you might have. You won't regret it at all. Things are just crazy right now with the search.

Thanks for the input. I've never subscribed to a pay site before, so I don't know if it's worth it. I usually go on RockyTopTalk.com. They're a pretty good source with good writing, interesting topics, and very few trolls. But I'm no longer in the area and like to keep up to date on all that goes on with the Vols.

This is a good site. I agree that there's been a lot of questions not answered lately, but in all fairness, it's been pretty hectic.
Fewer trolls, but some have begun to migrate over. However, W/R/K do a good job of keeping it somewhat civil over here than on VQ (I've never had a Scout subscription, so I can't compare).
I went with the annual subscription to receive the text alerts. I hope they're still working out the kinks with it, because they've been extremely disappointing, thus far. I'd recommend going the monthly route for now.
