Just because someone thinks that Jones is not the right hire for the Vols, doesn't mean our blood is less orange. We don't make the decision, we will cheer for the Big Orange, but we won't pretend this is Vince Lombardi-esque hire.

We can't settle for a quick end. Short term thinking. We need to keep our head and find the right coach. He may be Jones or he may be someone else. But we need to do this right. We cannot rush into something.

There were compelling reason why the other coaches turned us down. We would have had to give Gruden the moon and the stars to get him and there are no guarantees that he would have been successful.

Gundy is an Oklahoma St lifer.

Louisville had to pay Strong a lot of money to make him stay. That should show everyone how much they were afraid of losing him.

I don't think Fedora wants to be a coach that chases a better job one year after taking his current one.

If the reports are true Jones turned down some pretty good positions because he thought Tennessee was better. If he is the choice give him a chance to show us the staff he is going to put in place and how hard they get out there and recruit. He looks to have done a solid job where he's at. Given the tremendous upgrade in school history, prestige and facility ranking he may just knock it out of the park.

Following up and checking on him seems to have had some pretty solid defenses the last couple years which I was worried about with Fedora and Gundy. Don't know if its scheme or talent left by Brian Kelly, but the one thing concerning me would be recruiting. He is a young guy maybe he can be an energetic optimistic guy everyone is saying we need.

If Tennessee offers i think he is gone. it sucks we cant compete with them but unfortunately right now thats the reality.

i am curious what other fellow bearcat fans think about letting butch coach the bowl game if he leaves? i think his comments show that might be the intention if indeed he does leave. i say absolutely not next man in. we need the next coach whoever that may be to coach that game not a patch work of assistants.

i hope thats a moot point and he ends up staying.

Everybody is focused on Jones losing to Dooley. Kelley lost to Florida big time in a bowl while with Cincy. He's turned out ok at Notre Dame. Give Butch a cHance
