Jones main attraction at SportsFest

The annual SportsFest in Nashville is a showcase for many athletic teams and businesses. It was apparent Saturday many where there to see UT football coach Butch Jones.

" I've been invited by the National Football League to the Combine, and I have a bunch of meetings set up with different teams," Jones said. "I'm also going to be there to support our Vols that are there as well."
What kind of meetings would that be? Any idea?

probably to talk about "his" players that are out the combine...maybe some former Cincinnati players.

I agree..Butch Jones just seems like the right man for UT fb..I was saying the other day if I were in that auditorium listening to CBJ address the team for the first time, I would have left that building ready to fight ten men for the Orange/White of UT. He really seems to relate to young athletes and his program is a proven commodity..GBO!!

Isn't it great that the main attraction at a Nashville gathering is CBJ? I wonder how hard they are trying to rub Franklin's nose in the carpet, and telling him not to be marking UT territory like that.....

I love landing players who grew up in Tennessee...if they are good enough to play for Tennessee. Jones is saying what he needs to say because there actually are some serious in-state studs in this cycle. Make no mistake though--Jones would sign a kid from Neptune if he was a high-character kid who could help UT win. Too many out-of-state players have helped us to ignore it: Eric Berry, Peyton Manning, Tee Martin, Jamal Lewis, Carl Pickens, Dale Carter, etc. etc.

Tennesse has alot of great players this year. We will see in the next recruiting class if (Tennessee) and Jones is going to "own" the state.

No doubt, Doug Dickey once said he tried to recruit the state of Tennessee almost exclusively and later Johnny Majors came in and proved you've got to recruit nationally..I feel you need to be versatile enough to recruit anywhere USA and the brand name of UT fb needs to be spruced up a bit to do that..Here's hoping CBJ&staff get it done and places UT back as one of college fb's elite programs.

Yes, I think it is great! The crowd was allowed to ask questions of CBJ, and one fan led off his question first by saying "welcome to Big Orange Country in middle Tennessee." Loved it!

Here's Butch Jones' biggest challenge for "owning" the state: sign behemoth Mosley. At present, he has Bama as his clear #1. I think he is currently 6'6" 330--as a JUNIOR in high school. Yikes! Okay, UT, go get him!
